Wart-like growth on dog's ear??? with pics (WARNING)
About a month ago I felt a bump on Bella's ear (the under flap) and thought it was a tick, but it looked like a mole, so we watched it for a week or two and it got bigger, we took her to the vet to check and he said it was a benign growth common in young dogs and would most likely go away on its own. Well we had to go back today (two weeks since the last visit) for shots, so I showed them the ear again, and said that it more than doubled in size since the last visit. This guy (the first vets partner) said the same thing, but wants to give it a month and if it gets larger or doesn't fall off, she will have to have surgery to get it removed. Has anyone been through this before? I wish I could remember the name of what they said it was!! The good thing is, is that it doesn't bother her, I don't even think she knows its there, it BOTHERS me though!! It's GROSS!!

Growing up I had a cocker spaniel that had them on her ears. I think they went away on their own.

Porter had a hematoma something on his ear. It looked just like that. Started out small. We thought that maybe our friends dog bit his ear when they were playing. Then it started getting bigger. We had it removed. It looks like the same EXACT thing Porter had. We just had it removed. I did not want him to open it up or anything if he happened to scratch his ear.

Thanks for the replies, we are hoping that it will go away on its own in a month, because we really want to avoid sugery if we can.

I know this is a really old post, but I have been searching the internet for this exact issue. katiebell, did it eventually go away? Our little guy has had these pop up twice on his ear, and get so big we had to have the Vet remove. He now has one again, just trying to figure out what happened with you...

Just wanted to chime in, if the growth is a Histiocytoma, we had the same thing. I posted about it here.
I know they don't look the same, but apparently they can vary somewhat in the look. Everything turned out well for us and we haven't found any other growths.
How old is your dog?
