It was AFTER the wedding, I wasn't such a happy bride, after things settled down and I was able to give more thought to the mishaps of the day.
This was me also. My DJ was awful and he was from a well know company. My two BM's husbands got sooo drunk and acted like idiots and were completely disrespectful to some of my guests. I still can't get over how they acted and I don't talk to either of them now when I see them.

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?
everything went really good the day of with my vendors. that day i was pretty relaxed, which was surprising as i was really nervous about the whole ordeal (being stared at, etc).
the time before the wedding was extremely stressful fro me. there was so many other factors involved, like immigration, and having DH not in the same country with me until 5 weeks before the wedding. looking back i would have just eloped, but families wanted a wedding. i made the best of the day, and i had a great day!

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?
I was very happy to be starting my life with my husband, but unfortunately, our wedding was overshadowed by the events of 9-11. We lost DH's aunt that day as well as several friends and acquaintances.
My wedding day was also the day the US began strikes on al Qaeda in Afghanistan.

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?
i had an absolute blast...its funny cause we were looking at the video again last night with friends and we couldn't believe how much we danced!
but, that said, i CAN understand why it wouldn't be the best experience for some. b/w drama, vendor problems and even for some, if you don't like being the "center of attention" then that could be a problem. i'm a ham, so I lived it up.
i'd take a happy marriage over a happy wedding anyday anyway...

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?
I have to say that I was very calm and relaxed and enjoyed the day. I did get a little sad at one point, though. I had disappeared for a while into the bathroom and no one really noticed and I started to feel like the people weren't partying for me they were just partying to party. I remember sitting at the sweetheart table watching the people dance by thinking of how it was almost like I was invisible to them.
In retrospect, I don't think that was really the case but just me being overly sensitive.
Was my wedding day the happiest day of my life? No, I think there will be many happier days to come. I don't think that was the peak.

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?
I definitely was a HAPPY but nervous bride...it snowed for 2 days before my wedding and we had over 20" of snow on the ground the day of my wedding...
I tried not to worry too much...but, I was definitely stressed...

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?
It is sad that people didn't have a good time at their wedding, aw!
I had an amazing time at my wedding, I am a nervous person by nature and I was really, really calm. DH and I had gotten in a HUGE fight at 6am the day of the wedding, but we also made up, b/c it was just stress on both of our parts, after that, it was smooth sailing.

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?
I loved my wedding up until the point that I didn't feel well again! I was sick with some flu type bug 3 days before the wedding. I had not eating a thing & that morning I was feeling great. Once I got to the reception & started to eat lightly, I got that feeling in my stomach again & went right up to the Bridal Suite! Unfortunately, I had no control over that. Otherwise, it was an amazing day!

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?
I was very stressed the week of the wedding between doing everything for the wedding myself and being stressed at work. We also had 6 overseas visitors staying with us, but I recruited them to help out, so in the end we had fun. ETA: I actually forgot how terribly stressed I was - I fought horribly with DH all that week and our visitors probably thought we shouldn't be getting married.
Despite 9" of rain on the day, I decided to say f*ck it - what could we do? Both myself and DH had a fantastic time. I think we threw a really good party and my friends say that I had the biggest ever grin on my face. Best day of my life? Probably one of the best...

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?
For the most part, I was pretty happy on my wedding day. Great weather, everything went pretty smooth, vendors all did a great job.
I was incredibly disappointed with BIL's piece of sh1t speech. There was a huge awkward silence after he finished, followed by some half hearted clapping.
DH's uncle (who walked me down the aisle) got drunk and made an even sh1ttier speech and somehow got into an argument with another guest. I would have liked to apologize to whoever that was, but to this day, no one will tell me.
And then there was the freeloading idiot who had the balls to get up and serenade us. While he sang, I bet DH a dollar I could have hit him square on the head with one of the flower arrangements on our table.
I had the American Idol wannabe cut from the video, but couldn't cut the speeches, even though Dh agrees they sucked.

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?
Nah, I partied the whole day & night. It was the time of my life. I did not let anything stress me. Even when I was getting my hair & m/u done at friggin 6am, I was calm & chatting & laughing with my m/u artists & photographer.
Even when someone crashed my wedding (long story) I just ignored him & went on with mine & DHs day.

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?
I was happy but I was also glad when it was over. The worst part was that my poor DH didn't feel well for the first half of the night. As far as everyything else, one one hand, the whole picture taking thing (I don't like taking pictures) and having to spend a lot of time with people I'd rather not spend a lot of time with kind of s u c k e d BUT on the other hand, seeing family that I haven't seen in a while, being able to dance and drink all night with my friends, and of course marrying my DH was incredible. My wedding was beautiful but I'm certainy not one of those brides that would want to do it all again!

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?
There were definitely aspects of my wedding that, when I look back on it, really tick me off, LIKE, my brother, who I see maybe once every five years, who decided that about a half hour into the reception, he and his girlfriend would rather walk around Southampton and do some sight-seeing, or my caterer who totally screwed us on the food and went totally el-cheapo... or that the Inn couldn't turn off the "lobby" music so DH and I had to yell our vows to one another (ok, looking back, that was kinda funny)... but overall, on the day of, I was so excited, happy and I made a point to just ignore everything that I noticed out of the corner of my eye that was going wrong so I could absorb everything. It just all went so quickly that I barely even remember most of it!

I just love you to pieces!
I say that to myself all the time.
And to those that had a WONDERFUL experience and it was the best day of your life...you had a "blast". That is sooo wonderful, truly. I'm very glad, but the question was "Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?"... Please just take a second to think about those of us that didn't have a sunshiny day feel when we read your posts.
All in all my wedding was in no way a disaster and like Leese said it's the marriage not the wedding..., but the few vendors that REALLY messed things up...did ruin a huge part of the day...that neither of us with forget.

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?
I had a good time, but I can see how it is not the happiest day of my life. I think the birth of my child will be.
We had a blast and DH and I never left each other's side. I loved our first dance and the speeches. But then we were so focused and going around the room talking to people, that we didn't have enough down time, to dance and hang out.
In retrospect, I would have followed DH's plan and gotten married on a beach with just our immediate families.

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?
It was honestly the best day of my life! I had a blast, I did not stress about one thing because ultimately, that day was not about the flowers, favors etc...Its about having everyone who loves you in the same room to celebrate the love that you and DH have for each other!!! Of course there was some drama throughout the planning process, but when I woke up the morning of our wedding, nothing mattered anymore but seeing DH waiting for me at the end of the aisle!!!

Re: Was anyone else not a happy bride on their wedding day?
Mixed.... as you can see from my other posts, I have a lot of issues with my family, so I went thru a lot of the same stuff before my wedding - so by the time I got married, I was so emotionally drained... I look at the pictures - my eyes dont look happy... I vowed that I would not get that way during my pregnancy, and I didnt. Its been a while since I got upset the way I did tonight....
