was I wrong? public bathroom/disabled access stall etiquette
The whole interaction sounds weird. I would think if she noticed an empty stall, she'd ask if you were waiting and point it out. So, who knows what she was thinking...she could have been annoyed with you for a completely different reason, lol.

I know having a baby in a stroller isn't the same as having a disability, but really that larger stall is the only one a mom with a baby in a stroller can use without having to leave her baby unsupervised outside of a smaller stall. I have had to wait before with my 3 yo and baby in his stroller for that stall to become available and it has pissed me off that I've had to make my 3 yo wait and hold it bc a woman who had no disability is using it, AND all the other stalls are empty! I really do think it's inconsiderate to use it just because you "like having more room". That's not why it's there. Its there for people who NEED the extra room. But if all the other stalls were full and it's an emergency, I wouldn't be mad at someone using it. I think you did the right thing by waiting for another stall.

I use it all the time. It isn't "reserved" for handicap only...just handicap accessible. It's sort of like walking up the handicap walkway instead of taking the stairs....
Edit : I want to clarify I use it only if all others are taken and obviously wouldn't use it if someone else needed it...including moms with babies.
Also, that woman was an ass...

I always use it if its open. IMO, its handicap ACCESSIBLE not for handicapped people only.
That is why they put the changing tables in them, bc there is more space. So they are not handicap ONLY, just accessible.
Exactly. It's not exclusively for handicapped people.
That being said, that lady was just rude.

I use that bathroom if there's not a line, or if I'm with DD. You were totally not in the wrong though. And if that lady is going to get herself all worked up because she had to wait a second to use the bathroom, then she's a jerkofffff.
