Washing Crib Bumpers and how long do I keep it in the crib for?

This might be a stupid question, but here goes. We haven't had the bumpers in DD's crib that long, but now I need to wash them.

SO...I just noticed that there is a zipper and that I can actually removed the bumper cover but it looks like it will be a b*tch to get back on again. SOO...my question is, can I just stick the whole thing in the washer and dryer? The cover is 100% cotton and the filler is polyester.

OR, now that she's 13 months is it time to remove the bumper for good, anyway?

Thanks in advance!

If you are going to wash the bumpers, I would put them in on Gentle or Delicate so the agitator doesn't do a number on them. Same with drying.

I never took our bumpers out. My DD's never climbed up on them. They were in until I switched my oldest DD to the toddler bed and my other DD is 22 months & hers are still in now. It's never posed a problem so I won't remove them.

Brilliant! Thank you ladies - just the thought of trying to get that huge bumper back through the tiny zipper opening was making me sweat!!

I never used them as bumpers, but now have them tied to the top part of the crib because DD started teething on the crib and took off a lot of paint.

It was washed before DD was born and every few months I wash them.

I just throw it in the washer, regular cycle and they come out super soft just the way I bought them.
