Waterfront dining on South Shore (preferably suffolk county)
I swear the search feature on this site can really blow. I know this question comes up a bunch, but couldn't find good search results.
Looking for a nice place for dinner on Sat. night -- preferably on the south shore of Long Island...suffolk county. (Western suffolk would be a + )
Any suggestions?

Fat Fish in Bay shore is very nice, and so is Captain Bill's. If you are looking for further west there are several places in Sayville. The only place DH and I have been (The Cull House) is not fancy at all.

Thanks.
I should've said "and not Fat Fish or Captain Bill's" because we go to those places all the time, since we live in bay shore.

In Patchogue is Louis XVI (I think that's the name - it's Louis with a roman numeral after it ) - it's a fancy French place on the water. Seating is inside but you can walk on the patio outside (and I think have drinks outside).

It's no longer Louis XVI -- it's been bought by the Lombardis family and now it's Lombardi's on the Bay.
Does look yummy

My friend just went to the Lake house on Montauk Hwy in Bay Shore... It's the old duck pond inn. She said the food was good and it was really nice inside.
It's on a lake.

Kingston's in Sayville. Really nice, laid back, small... great place to eat some clams on a half shell and have a few glasses of wine. Google it and the website will come up. You'll always see people coming home from Fire Island, docking there boats and heading in for a bite and a drink.

The Riverview in Oakdale was just completely redone; it's now called The View. Or, there is the Snapper Inn in Oakdale as well.
You could also take the ferry out of Bay Shore and go to one of the restaurants on Ocean Beach.

Lombardi's on the bay. We just went there with 3 other couples and had such a great time and the food was amazing.
