Wavy/Curly girls who have gone straight
So I have been reading all of the raves about Top Point. My question is, what happens when your hair starts go grow back in wavy or curly? Does it look silly? How do you manage it? What if I dont like it and want wavy hair back?
Thanks.

Re: Wavy/Curly girls who have gone straight
Great question (do we share a brain?) I would love to know also, this is the only thing keeping me from straightening my hair.

Re: Wavy/Curly girls who have gone straight
when my hair grows in - it just takes longer to dry
my hair does NOT curl at the root- so 6 months of regrowth - it's really anything
if you want you old hair back- you would have to grow out the whole thing- like a perm- but you wont- I don't know one person who has gone back

Re: Wavy/Curly girls who have gone straight
My boss had it done, and after about 8 months her regrowth is her natural very curly hair. She blow dries it straight in the morning.

Since I just got it done in May, my hair has grown maybe 1 cm and I can't see a difference yet. Once the roots start coming in I will just blowdry my hair. Right now I am letting it air-dry. If you don't like it and want wavy hair back, you wil have to wait for it to grow out... or you can use a cruling iron! Today I had a baby shower and I wanted to do something different so I added waves with a big curling iron. If definitely doesn't look as good wavy as it did before I straightened it (less body), and now that it is straight I can do a lot less with my hair... BUT the time savings and no frizz in the rain make it all worth it. EVen though there is less variety I will never have a bad hair day. I am going to continue straightening it!

Re: Wavy/Curly girls who have gone straight
Here is a photo of me in Pompeii, after being in the rain and drizzle all day. Just so you can see how it stays straight in any weather.

Re: Wavy/Curly girls who have gone straight
I have the same concerns about going straight!! I have always liked to have the option of being a "big hair" girl once in a while and I am worried tha if I do not like it and want to grow it out that my hair will be really damaged. Have you noticed that your hair is more damaged as it grows out? Also, I color my hair...are you still able to that too?

Re: Wavy/Curly girls who have gone straight
I just straightened my hair at Top Point this past weekend and I LOVE it! I can't believe the difference! I have curly hair, but have been blowing it straight since jr. high and am so happy to have gotten this done! I couldn't believe it when the stylist (Maggie??) dried my hair just using her fingers and it came out so shiny and straight! Despite the drizzle and gross weather the past few days it hasn't even frizzed. I'm really excited about all the extra time I'm going to have. THANK YOU to everyone who recommended it on here. I will post pics shortly!

I've gotten my hair JS five or six times, and there has been no difference in the texture of my hair when it grows out or any damage for that matter.
The JS is topically done - it's treated to the hair that's already existed, so when your hair grows out, it's not affected by the chemicals used (it doesn't penetrate the root.)
Yes, you are able to color your hair.
Hope that makes sense.

Is your hair really flat afterwards or is there ANY body to it?

Re: Wavy/Curly girls who have gone straight
I did the JS last year, and the year before, but I got really bad breakage, so I stopped doing it. I dont post that I had it done since last year I had such a bad experience. I'm hoping that it was just that particular salon and not the process in general, because it really is a miracle worker. I have really course crazy curly hair naturally, and when I did it my hair looked like silk, but regarding your question, it did grow back course, since it's my natural hair texture, so extra attention need to be made to the roots. (sorry for the runon sentence).
To this day, since my hair doesn't grow quickly, the bottom of my hair really is easy to blow dry, but at this point I have lots of regrowth and it's a nightmare to straighten. I have to go to the salon once, maybe twice a week if I don't want to look like a frizz ball.
So, yes, it growns back your natural hair texture, but if your hair doesn't grow back fast, like mine, you only have get the process done twice a year.

In the very beginning (the first two/three months) it's pin straight and barely any body to it. However, if you have thick hair than it'll have it's own body. I have relatively thin hair, so my hair is pin straight and flat.
After the three months, your hair gets over that "hair shock" stage and starts having it's own body - basically as the JS is wearing itself down.

Re: Wavy/Curly girls who have gone straight
Another question - I had my hair highlighted May 3rd. How long do I have to wait until I can JS it?
Also a stupid question - if you can't tuck it behind your ears or bend it, etc, how do you sleep on it?

only about 3 weeks- so your fine
I sleep on my stomach- and then if anything is messed up in the morning- which is rarely is- I touch it up with a flat iron on low- and it's perfect
I have been doing this for 4 years-

Re: Wavy/Curly girls who have gone straight
The thought of going through another summer looking like Carrot Top if I dry my hair kills me. Ok - three more weeks...three more weeks.
Thanks Beth!
