Way ahead of myself, but have a baptism question.......
I was wondering if you are a Catholic and planning to baptize your baby, which family members you are inviting to the church/dinner afterwards. I have a different view than my DH of who should be invited, so just wanna see what you ladies plan to do. TIA

Well everyone who is invited to dinner is invited to the church as well.
We are doing family: aunts, uncles, cousins etc.
And then we will probably have two tables of close friends.
And you arent ahead of yourself I am already penciled in for my baptism at the church! LOL

LOL that's great! I haven't called yet to set a date because I'm not sure when she's coming! Although, I guess I can use the 6 week rule from 2 weeks past my due date, in case she's late lol Thanks for making me think about this!
As for family, together we have a lot of people so I was thinking of celebrating with the "new generation", but that wouldn't include aunts and uncles.

Re: Way ahead of myself, but have a baptism question.......
We just had DD's Baptism this passed sunday. We invited close family (aunts, uncles, cousins etc. but no one "distant") and close friends (about 2 tables of them)
It was really nice and everyone had a great time. There was about 68 of us and some kids :)

i don't really know how this works (and DH hasn't really been any help) but I assume it will be mostly family (immediate, aunts, uncles, cousins) and a few close friends.

I really need to start figuring this stuff out. I'm assuming slightly extended family (that lives close) and our very close friends.

Re: Way ahead of myself, but have a baptism question.......
We did our entire families (incl aunts, uncles, 1st cousins and their kids) and close friends for DS. For baby #2, we're just doing family (incl extended) but no friends because it's just too many people!

Re: Way ahead of myself, but have a baptism question.......
DH and I both have very small families so we'll probably invite some friends too. Fortunately we'll be having it in the summer so we are just going to have a BBQ afterwards at our house.

We are only inviting immediate and very close family to church and dinner. I always imagined a baptism should be small and intimate.

Those that are invited to the church will be invited to a small luncheon or dinner afterward.
I wish we could do it sooner but we are waiting till Feb the latest to baptize our LO.

Re: Way ahead of myself, but have a baptism question.......
I have a HUGE family,(my mom is one of 9 and my dad is one of 11) so, most people are from my side for everything we have! We are just doing aunts, uncles, 1st cousins and their kids and a few close friends. My list is up to 100 already and we are planning it at our house! LOL

Re: Way ahead of myself, but have a baptism question.......
Honestly, it depends on who is paying for it. If it's DH and I it will be small - immediate family ONLY and closest friends only.
If my dad and step-mother pick up the tab like they did for DD, it will be the same as DD's - all local family will be invited including aunts, uncles, cousins, close friends and kids.

Re: Way ahead of myself, but have a baptism question.......
So I see the norm tends to be immediate family. I was trying to weigh things out in my head and I came up with this:
I thought that inviting parents, grandparents, siblings and closest friends was the way to go since this is the start of a new generation. I thought to myself that my aunts and uncles have all been through this with their own nieces and nephews and figured that for them this will be their great-niece.....but I also love my entire family and don't want to cause any hard feelings.
