we are clear to close on a house! yaaaaaay! i know there is one issue regarding title insurance that the seller is working right now but i am relieved that everything on our end has been satisfied! no more jumping through hoops! we are so close to closing finally.

anyhow, is final walk through the same day as the closing?

how long is the closing?

what did you wear?

We did the walk through the day before closing, but you can do it day of as well - I think it just has to be within 24 hours.

We closed in the middle of a serious snowstorm so I think I had on jeans and a sweater. We had to go back the next day as well (long story) and I went in what I wore to work. I really don't think it matters - the deal's done! Wear whatever you want to have on in the pictures when you get to your new home! Congrats!

We did the walk through 2 hours before closing and then went straight there.

Honestly, were whatever you want...you are basically signing your life away so be comfy JK, we wore jeans I think and then went back to the house and opened up a bottle of Champagne the seller left for us

We did the walk through the night before! I wore a sweater dress, I needed to be comfortable I had just found out I was pg and not feeling well at all!!!!!

we did our walkthrough the day before.
I went to closing straight from work, so I wore my work closes.
My closing was pretty quick, only 1.5 hours I think, it could be longer than that... i would estimate 2 hours. Bring a good pen and some Motrin or something... I had such a headache by the end of it!

we did our walk through that morning. make sure you turn on every light and faucet, check for leaks. we have a small leak from the bathtub to the basement, which we didn't see before! open every window, make sure cranks turn! one of ours was broken, not that big of a deal, but still.

we wore casual clothes, jeans and i probably had flip flops on because it was summer. you'll be sitting in a room with a bunch of people for about an hour.

I've sat in 3 closings. 1 when buying our first house and 1 when selling that first house. Took about 1.5 hrs. VERY FAST. The 3rd closing was when we bought this house and it was 4 hrs!!!! and we almost didnt close!!!

But luckily we did!

I either wore work clothes (bc I was coming from work) or jeans.

Did the walk thru 24 hrs before (so the night before closing on all)

we did the walkthrough at 9am and closed at 1pm the same day.

i wore black maternity pants and a sweater i think (i was less that 3 weeks post partum with twins.....it was all a BLUR!)

Congratulations!

It's good to do the final walk through as close as possible to the closing. Usually, I schedule it the night before, if the closing is in the morning, or the morning of, if the closing is in the afternoon.

As previous posters have said, there's no real dress code. Most buyers seem to dress very casually. You will just be sitting around a conference table with the lawyers, agents, mortgage person, and title company rep and signing a ton of paperwork.
