We have a summer rental - WWYD?
I listed it on VRBO and someone called me and asked about renting for 2 weeks in July. He asked to rent it for $200 less than what we are asking for. WWYD? We are renting it for $1000 a week in July so he wants $1600 for the 2 weeks. IS that something you bargin with?

You can bargain for anything. It's up to you if you want to accept his offer, make a counter offer or turn it down.
I would consider splitting the difference and renting it for $900/week if there are no other offers or if it's not rented for a large part of the season.

I'd take the deal unless you're fairly certain you can rent at full price. I think its worth the "discount" to know you have the booking for those 2 weeks.

I would go back and offer a bit of a discount for the two week booking. I have rented in the past and I have seen discounts for consecutive bookings.

We have a discount for a monthly booking... maybe i can figure out something for multiple weeks. Is $200 a week off a lot cause to me that seems excessive...

Unless you have had no problems getting every week rented in the past, I would take his offer.
Especially in this economy.

Word! I rented a ski house this winter and got it for $400 less than asking. And that was just for a weekend.

They gave you an offer to see how much they can get off the price that you had posted. I'd go back and re-negotiate.....maybe go back and offer $1800 instead of $1600. If they are really interested and want the place for those 2 weeks, they will go for that.
