We were just told - no work tomorrow, SNOW DAY! Anyone else??
SNOW DAY!!!!
My boss people lol just came around, in the office, and told everyone not to come in tomorrow!! The people who are not here right now are getting phone calls.
Anyone else get word yet?? They did it a lot earlier than I thought.
DH, a teacher, still has to await word.

I won't know until about 8:45 tomorrow... and I have to be in at around 8am. not sure how that's going to work. DH is DSNY so he's been working nonstop 12-14+ hour days since the last storm. I don't expect to see him till the spring.

I am pretty much making that decision for myself. I work for family and have the option to work from home. Snow day for me tomorrow too

My boss decided yesterday!! I still have to take work home with me, but now I can work in my PJ's.
DH is a teacher too, I'm sure they will be off though.

law firms never close but i suppose one of the perks of being an attorney is that i can work from home. i feel awful that my admin assistant has to at least try to come in... i wish i could tell her not to but, not my call

I will have to call in the morning - although I already cleared my court calendar.
DH said he is going to work.  He said if he just calls in he won't get paid, but if he shows and gets sent home he will.

yea right! haha! I'm going to call the 800 number and sit it out. I can't commute all the way into the city and then go back if they aren't open. Worse comes to worse, I just don't come in at all. What can you do? I have a good 15 minute walk to the train to begin with and I KNOW at that time the blocks won't be shoveled or anything... esp with being pregnant... I'm probably not going to even risk it. If they say we are open at 8:45.. I'll leave then to come in... maybe...

We have to wait until tomorrow am (7:30am) to find out for my 7:12 or 7:37am train but I'm pretty sure I'm not coming in.
I think since you're off, we should all be off to celebrate your day off.

I think my boss is drafting a memo with the office manager that those affected by the snow for travel dont try to hard, be safe. So I may have a snow day

our HR just emailed everyone with instructions to call a new "snow emergency line" in the am there will be direction there.
in the 5 years that i have been with my company, we have NEVER had a snow day. ever.

This is the email we just got:
Severe weather conditions may make it difficult for some of you to get into the office tomorrow. Please do your best to come in as scheduled, but take care and put your safety first. If you cannot make it in, contact your manager as early as possible tomorrow morning to let him or her know.
Please check your email/blackberry and voicemail* before you come in for any updates. In the event of an office closing, we will send an email and leave a broadcast voicemail. If you do not receive an email and voicemail, the office is open. Managers – you are responsible for getting in touch with every member of your team to ensure they are aware of any updates.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
