Wearing costumes to work?

Corny or not?

I think it's cute at places like schools, daycare etc...

But in a corporate office..I think it's kinda cheesy (no offense). I'm talking full on costumes..some people at my office are dressed as a Banana, Catwoman...

I dunno..I think it's corny!!! Chat Icon

I'm not dressed up, but I see nothing wrong with it. If I wasn't preggos I wouldn't have worn a halloween shirt

I think it depends on the office environment. If someone came to my office in an actual costume there would be hell to pay but a festive shirt or accessory would be ok. Other companies may think it's fine.

My current company is really small and no one dresses up. My last company was large and corporate and EVERYONE including the CEO dressed up.

Re: Wearing costumes to work?

My company is VERY conservative - we are supposed to be dressed in a suit every day. - A full on costume would NOT fly .........
Something silly like a campy tie or those crazy headband things w/ the bobbling frankensteins would get a laugh -

Re: Wearing costumes to work?

I think its fun... When I worked in television we all dressed up. Its one day you get to be a kid again... but I guess it depends on the environment. My office was laid back and fun, so it was appropriate.

Re: Wearing costumes to work?

Since I never truly was into Halloween, I find it crazy to do at work unless you are in an environment with kids.

Re: Wearing costumes to work?

I like when people do it. I never went full out but I usually wear PART of my costume to work.

Last year I was a bee so I wore the headband and wings. This year I am a lion to I wore the furry headband and I have gloves that I will put on later for the party.

I always wear my Halloween shirt though - it has a cauldron and says "hot stuff" on it LOL

Re: Wearing costumes to work?

I'm wearing jeans today and a halloween shirt...I'm also wearing cat ears...but I'm not in a full blow costume.

Actually I took the ears off because they are annoying Chat Icon

I think it depends on what your costume is. I haven't seen anyone in a costume at all at my job.

Re: Wearing costumes to work?

I don't think it's corny... I'm all for it. I work for family and we have an office of about 13 people... I am fully dressed up.

When I worked in corporate - I would wear a pin and halloween socks. My boss would always dress up though - full face make-up, costume, etc.

No, I agree with you. We're not even that corporate here, and I would think it woul be weird, if someone came in costume, unless there was a memo sent out earlier, that we should all do something. Still a bannana is a bit much.

My MIL works in an small elementary school ,so the teachers all dress up, usually in a theme, and I have been to bars where the staff dresses up, that is cute/fun.

I'm just wearing an orange top! Chat Icon

Re: Wearing costumes to work?

I'm in a super small office so we don't do anything here for halloween, but my friend works in an office with actual contests and such and the people go all out! I think it's fun if you have a supportive environment...

i actually wish DH and I had somewhere fun to go so we could dress up. the only one in our family donning a costume today will be our dog! (we got him a little red devil cape and horns)

Re: Wearing costumes to work?

I'm the only one at my job dressed...

But I'm a referee:
Ref shirt
black baseball pants
white soccer socks.

I think a costume is ok as long as it isn't overly excessive.

PS I'm the only one at work dressed up lol Chat Icon
