Wed QOTD

Hi Ladies! Half way through the week! yay!!

Now that we have learned what most of us do for a living, my question for today is...............

Do you plan to work once you have a baby? and if so, who will be taking care of the baby?

I will take some maternity leave but will unfortunately have to go back to work. Thankfully we have both our parents who are more than willing to help out and watch the baby.

Re: Wed QOTD

I would love to spend as much time home as possible. Although we would be able to live comfortably on DH salary, we would be limited, which is what I really don't want, it wouldn't be fair to the kids. So we setup a family savings account which will help, but I know eventually I will have to go back to work.

I am definitely going back to work, not sure about who will watch the LO yet, maybe a nanny, maybe daycare if I can find a good one, but I have 6 months paid maternity at my job, so will have some time to figure it out.

Re: Wed QOTD

I am home now and will continue to be home when we have children....

We re-located out of NY so that I could be a SAHM - it was one of the biggest reasons why we moved out of state...

Re: Wed QOTD

My DH works from home so he will be a SAHD. I would love to stay at home for the first 6 months to a year but my job provides the health insurance, so I am not really sure how that will work out. In reality, I will prob only be able to stay at home for about 3-4 months and still keep my job..lol. I guess we will see.

I left teaching to be home with my DD when she was born and right now, I have no intentions on going back for a long, long time.........if I ever do. I'm not really even worrying about going back to work until I am done having children and they are all in elementary school and even then I don't think I want to work F/T. Time will tell. Chat Icon

Re: Wed QOTD

My parents and in-laws have been watching my DD since she's been 3 months old, when I had to go back to work. Since I carry the benefits for us, there was no way for me not to back.

Re: Wed QOTD

I went back to work after 4 months with DS#1. My job was too demanding and I switched jobs with better hours. My mom watches DS while we work.

When we have #2, I plan to stay home.

I have quite a few people to watch LO, so I am not sure who I am asking just yet.
I don't mind gonig back to work, I think I am a person that needs to work and can't SAH, but that is just meChat Icon

Re: Wed QOTD

I will be going back. One of my bfs stays home with her LO and she said she would watch ours as well. This is perfect for us b/c being a teacher, I have many days I will not need a sitter.

Re: Wed QOTD

I plan to not work. Or at most work a part time job in the neighborhood.

I don't know if my plan will actually play out or not. But that's my dream.

I grew up with baby sitters and all of that... so it's important for me to not have my kids grow up with the strangers I was always with.

Re: Wed QOTD

I'll have to go back to work although I would love to stay home. I have the bigger salary, so we need my income.

ETA: DH works 3ish days per week (police) so he can watch LO those days and ??? on the other days.

I don't plan on going back to work. I have always planned on being a SAHM and I feel very fortunate that I will be able to do so.

Re: Wed QOTD

I wish I could be a SAHM but we simply cannot afford it. As for who will watch our LO, that depends on if my husband's shift changes. He works nights now so he may have to be with the baby in the daytime. I'm sure my family will help out whenever they can.

Re: Wed QOTD

Right now I have a part time nursery teacher job in a school 3 days a week like 3 minutes away from our home. I'd really hate to give it up since I just got my foot in the door at this school. If I can hold onto it and have my mom or MIL watch the baby for those days that would be ideal but I wouldn't mind staying home with the baby and going back once they're in school.
