Re: Wedding gowns in a color, meaning not white/ivory
I had a friend that had a horrible Vera Wang gown in Blush. Ick.
To each her own, ya know? But I thought it was terrible.

Re: Wedding gowns in a color, meaning not white/ivory
I wore a champagne gown for my wedding. I was happy with it, I didn't think I looked right in white or ivory.
I may change my mind for the second time around

The color I wore was called Oyster. Like a dark tea stain color i guess is the easiest way to describe...

Re: Wedding gowns in a color, meaning not white/ivory
I've never seen anything other than white/ivory in person.
I just could never bring myself to do it, and i can't get used to it on others either. I'm so used to the white color for weddings.

Wedding gowns in a color, meaning not white/ivory
A friend of mine wore a gold dress and her bridemaids all wore white. I thought it was going to look so funny but it actually looked really cool in the pics and stuff.

mine is ivory
however, there was an '09 bride who had a blush colored gown that was one of my favorites ever
the very wang with the big bow on the chest?? i remember someone from LIW had that dress and it was gorgeous!!
yup..i believe it was jen (mirabella?)
I just did a search and WOW
GORGEOUS dress!
Hey its me Jen (MirabellaNYC from LIW)!! Thanks so much for the compliments : ) I loved my dress. I actually sold it on preownedweddingdresses.com last year. I priced it much lower than original price and it made another bride as happy as it did me. I did the blush because I'm a total pink person-trust me, all my hubby's family (off the boat Italians) gasped and were shocked that I didn't wear white. It was fun!
My God your dress was GORGEOUS

Re: Wedding gowns in a color, meaning not white/ivory
My question is- if the bride wears a color other than white/ivory- does she have to announce it on the invites so the guests know not to wear that color and 'steal her thunder'

Don't laugh my EXMIL tried to wear the same exact color as me! It was champagne ... she finally chose another color (light pink)

Re: Wedding gowns in a color, meaning not white/ivory
I went to a wedding in 2000 where the bride a a custom made light pink gown and one in 2011, where the bride wore black.
The pink one was an outdoor daytime Jewish ceremony & the black one was an indoor evening civil ceremony, so they both worked. They didn't tell people not to wear their color, but their gowns were more formal than the guests, so they stood out anyway.
On the other hand, my friend wore an ivory dress that looked white to me and her grandmother almost didn't come to the wedding over it, and her mother-in-law wore something the same color.

obviously i don't know the whole story, but why would her grandmother not attend her wedding over the fact that her wedding dress was ivory?
