Wedding help!

I come to you all for some help. My brother and his partner got engaged!! YAY!! I am so happy for them!! My brother asked if I could help him compile a list of places they can check out to have the wedding. I am drawing a complete blank because (a)- I have been married over 15 years and have no clue of current wedding places and (b)- they are looking for a "non-traditional" wedding venue (obviously...lol). No wedding halls. They are looking for a trendy but "different" type of place that can accomodate up to 300 people, has great ambiance, and has great food. He's looking in Brooklyn, Queens and LI. Any help, we would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Wedding help!

I know you said not a catering hall, but we had ours at a no-frills one in the Hudson Valley. It cost about 1/4 the price of a Long Island venue.

We got married on Columbus Day weekend and a lot of our guests made a weekend out of it, taking in the leaves and some of the local places in the area, and raved because it was something different then what they were used to down here.

We got married outside on their grounds in a garden.

There are a lot of places like this up that way. I've even been to some events like this at a place on the Delaware River right over the border from NY in PA.

I'm from that area though and weddings in general are more low-key.

What is the name of that Farm in Queens that does weddings?

I know at Sunken Meadow Beach, the pavilion is owned by lessings but its ON the boardwalk and isn't a traditional catering hall, yet owned and serviced by Lessings.

The Metropolitan (I think its in Glen Cove?)

Flowerfield is not your typical hall, and they do a lot of same sex weddings.

Re: Wedding help!

There's so many cool lofts and bars in Brooklyn, but they are smaller. We were at the Brooklyn Winery last week and they do weddings. I've also been to a wedding at Rebar in Brooklyn- another gorgeous, but small venue.

There's the Tobacco Warehouse in Dumbo is really cool. It's actually all broken down so it's outside but in an amazingly beautiful way.

And my dream venue- The Foundry in LIC. Swooooon. My heart melts for this place. I would've given a kidney to get married there. But alas, it's expensive and small. We would've had to use both the indoors and outdoors for our wedding and there are noise restrictions, but it's an AMAZING venue.

Chat Icon We were THIS CLOSE to booking Steiner Studios. I don't recommend it only because I really didn't like the coordinator.

But holy bananas the Liberty Warehouse is gorgeous!!! Chat Icon
