Spinoff to wedding songs... Who think they had a unique wedding song that you don't normally hear...

I honestly think DH & I did...

My husband is a DJ and has such a huge collection of music and appreciation to different types of genres...

He is VERY VERY VERY into the Blues and Jazz... Some of our first dates were to see live Blues bands, etc... WE started listening to Louie Armstrong together while at the beach etc...

our song... became OUR SONG... when we first started dating, we had our first big fight and both wanted it to end...

he played A Kiss To Build A Dream On by Louie Armstrong and looked at me... grabbed me and we just started dancing... It was solidified that this was OUR SONG.

It was different... it had so much meaning to us personally..

Anytime we are at a wedding he requests the DJ play this song... usually during dinner b/c it's mellow and it is usually the two of us alone on the dance floor...

I love our song so much... It's so much MORE than a song... it describes our whole relationship...

Our's was pretty uncommon...I don't know of many people who have used it: Fade Into You by Mazzy Star.

DH and I are also music fiends...picking music for the wedding was our favorite task throughout the whole process but...we didn't really have a song that was 'our song'. We had a whole album that we considered 'our song' in a way (The Cure: Disintegration) because (its a long story, but) that album is the whole reason why we started dating in the first place. While we have nothing but love for that album, the couple of songs on there that could be considered for our first dance songs were ones that you hear played as first dance songs all the time. And those songs weren't really the ones on the album that he and I truly love.

So, onward. He suggested a few, I suggested a few...it just seemed like the ones we were tossing around were just not meaningful to either of us.

We took a break from it. At that point, I was convinced that we would just go with a Cure song off of Disintegration. And worse, I start to not care anymore. There's so much crap to do during wedding planning and we can't pick an effing song?!

A few days pass and he suggests Fade Into You, pops in the cd and all...we listen...its working...its us...lyrics are a little odd for what we intend to use the song for, but...its us. We've both always loved the song, danced to it a few times in the past and so...there it was, our wedding song.

I think ours was....we're not fans of typical wedding love songs. We're actually not big slow dance song fans in general. It took us awhile to decide and this was always on our list and one day we walked in our apt and DH had left his itunes on on the computer. We had just been discussing the issue on the subway before we walked in and when we opened the door this was playing. And that was that. I think we did - Shameless by Garth Brooks. It was always "our" song, and fit perfectly as a wedding song. It's not even the original, Billy Joel wrote it, but we like the country version better.

i love all the songs

when XH and i were dating, he told me he already knew the song he'd love be the wedding song. it bugged me a bit that he had picked it out before we had even met. i felt no connection to it.

he begged that be the one thing he had total control over in the wedding planning.

Ours was pretty unique to be used as a wedding song. It is "All My Life' by KCi & JoJo. It was a top song in 1998 when we started dating and the words are very powerful to me since it is everything I ever wanted. God is a big power in our lives, so the way it is written is just perfect. It is an R&B song which might be weird for a wedding song, but it is so perfect for DH and I.

Come What May from Moulin Rouge soundtrack.... unless you've seen the movie, you've never heard it so I think it's pretty unique.

DH and I picked it for it meaning- that no matter what happens we will love each other.

Ours was Can't Help Falling in Love by Elvis and we had taken dance lesson so the dj didnt invite everyone up. The 2nd song was Just The Way You Are by Billy Joel and everyone was invited up to dance so we had 2 songs. My friend used " Your My home" by Billy Joel, had never heard it and now I now I love it.

I think so! We had "You & I" by Stevie Wonder.

DH said when he was on his way to meet me on our first date he was a nervous wreck, and this song came on the radio and immediately calmed him down. He also had this song playing when he proposed to me on the beach.

So it was a no brainer.

I think that's pretty unique... I've never heard of anyone using the song when it was sung by Sting, let alone Eva

"I'll Back You Up" by Dave Matthews....the band had never heard the song, but they learned it for us the week before the wedding and did an incredible job!

When I met DH I told him I was never getting married and never having kids. I enjoyed my life too mucc the way it was. We were friends for about a year (he had a girlfriend) and then we started dating.

I *thought* our song was unique because everyone was using Chasing Cars or You & Me that year and we went in a different direction. But.. it isn't. I know at least 1 other couple who used it and I've seen it pop up on shipper clips on YouTube.

My friend and his wife had the MOST unique wedding song I've ever heard.. "Something I Can Never Have" by NIN. Great song.. but not a wedding song. I think there is a REASON I've never heard of anyone else using it!
