Wedding invitation question. Is this a new trend?
My cousin is getting married in May. We just got the invite in the mail. Beautiful invitation the church info listed and says reception to follow. The reception card says where the reception is but says please visit our website soandsogetmarried.com for details.
What? Why not just say cocktail starts at 5 with dinner and dancing to follow? It takes up the same amount of room. They are young, not quite 30 so I'm wondering if this is the new norm or just them

Re: Wedding invitation question. Is this a new trend?
Hmm in 2010 when I got married, we had a wedding website, but we still included the info on the invite. The website had more info- including directions, local hotels, pick up and drop off of the buses we provided, info about the bride/groom and bridal party, etc.

Re: Wedding invitation question. Is this a new trend?
I don't think age really plays much of a factor in this case (29/30 really isn't young to be getting married). This is the new norm. Most couples are creating wedding websites now with detailed info for guests. Instead of trying to cram the info onto the invitation, they're putting it all on a website. Honestly, it makes sense to me. A lot of people tend to lose or misplace the invitations. The website is easy to refer to if you cant find the invitation.
ETA: They may have had a limited amount of space on the invitation and wanted to make sure people knew to check the wedding website, so instead of putting the reception time on the actual invite, they just put the website address.

Wedding invitation question. Is this a new trend?
I've had a couple of co-workers get married recently, who are all in their early-mid 20s and this is exactly what they did; invitation mailed out but said "please see our wedding website for details and to RSVP.". I actually had friends who got married in 2012 and they also did this. I think it's becoming more and more popular.

Wedding invitation question. Is this a new trend?
We were recently invited to a wedding with just a single invite card and a link to a website to rsvp.

So far I've only gotten wedding website info on a save the date magnet. I should be getting an actual invitation soon as my BIL is getting married in early June, so we'll see.

Wedding invitation question. Is this a new trend?
I think it's odd to not have the info on the invitation. What about older relatives who don't use the internet?

agreed. Invites go on my fridge as my reminder. To have to go into a website to find and print out details is an extra step that would just annoy me. I guess that puts me in the old category.

My mother would not attend because she likes to be difficult and doesn't like when you change things up on her.

I agree. There is something to be said for tradition. A wedding invite is a formal thing and should not be relegated to the internet, etc IMO

Wedding invitation question. Is this a new trend?
I haven't received one like this, but I feel like the trend is more towards simple invites-most have just been an invite/rsvp lately, with maybe a piece of computer paper directions

Wedding invitation question. Is this a new trend?
I think that's ridiculous! Why only put half the info on the paper invite? I could see not wanting to get the RSVPs mailed back and you put an email address or website (and phone number), but all the info for the wedding should be on the paper invitation.

My BIL and SIL did this. It's definitely different but I would expect it from them.

Re: Wedding invitation question. Is this a new trend?
I haven't seen an invite without the time, that sounds crazy, but the last wedding invitation I received did not include the address of the hall on it or a direction card... which is fine because we just looked it up online & then used gps but I could definitely see how it would be annoying for guests who don't use internet.

Hahaha. My mom.must not have gotten hers yet but I'm sure that'll be her reaction. She will go but carry on about how ridiculous it is.

Re: Wedding invitation question. Is this a new trend?
I wonder if they ordered the invitations early & weren't 100% on the time yet?
I received a invite recently, and the reception info was on the card, but I already knew, bb/c it was on the website, which was listed on the STD.
You can respond online, but they also had regular response cards in the invitation & they are fairly non-traditional people.

Re: Wedding invitation question. Is this a new trend?
Relatives upstate did this 2 years ago. We had to rsvp online and it had all the information on the website but got a paper invite first.
Another wedding we went to was completely all online but it was a destination wedding.

Re: Wedding invitation question. Is this a new trend?
We got a response card and i already mailed it back.
I don't get that they put all that effort into the invite.. There is a card for the hotel, the card where the reception is... Just seems like a lot of work then to leave out the rest of the info...
I can see that is definitely split as far as this goes.
