Wedding related - registries

Hi all:

I'm finalyzing my registry now and had a quick question. What are some things you registered for and realize now were completely unnessesary. On the flip side-what didn't you register for that you wish you had??

I've owned my own place for 3 years now and feel like I have so much already but I don't want to forget anything. Plus family members are saying I don't have enough on there for guests.

Thanks!

Re: Wedding related - registries

I registered for the Ronco Rotisserie -DH "had" to have it----married two years and he has never used it! Up until recently he wouldnt let me return it, now it is probably too late...

The stand up mixer-kichenaid- I didn't really want this- my mother said I should put it on there- even though I don't use it often at all, when I do, it makes life easier- and it something I would have never gone out to buy myself.

I LOVE this huge seafood steamer/pot...it is so great for making lobsters/clams/etc...

Re: Wedding related - registries

I wish I didn't register for this huge glass cake plate with topper - totally unnecessary. Also, I registered, got, broke and replaced this huge glass candleabra. It's now our joke about how we are so "fancy" -- why I didn't get rid of that, I don't know. I also wish I didn't register for a salad spinner - I threw it out after a few uses.

I do wish I registered for more linens...never thought ahead to the fact that I'd want/need new sheets or would eventually have more than one bed!

I'm glad I registered for an air purifier.

see I didn't get a single wine glass expcept the ones I registered for.

I did however register for just regular ones b/c the lead crystal is so expensive and if it breaks i will be upset so i got a nicer but still plain set from bbb that wasn't bought by the glass instead by the set.

(then i really fell in love with a lead crystal set, and I bought them myselfChat Icon )

I love MY CUISINART MINI PREP PLUS

I love my circulon pots and pans

i love my cast iron grill pan- though i bought that for myself (great when you cant grill- like in the winter- but want a seared steak or hamburger or blackened chicken)

Luggage is a good thing to register for

i thought my expensive sheets and comforter etc was a waste- it probably cost over $500 for all of the pieces and i could have bought it for myself for $250 at homegoods and gotten better quality stuff. jmo

i replace my shower curtain at least 1x a year- what bout a new shower curtain and accessories, shower rug and things like that

The only thing I don't use is a fajita maker, it's too much of a PIA to get it out, I just use a regular skillet.

I am glad we registered at Home Depot for gardening and small tools - we use them all the time.

LOL, seriously! I've been looking all over for a good cake plate. I should have registered for one.

I LOVE my food processor. I have never used my Foreman grill, waffle iron or pizzelle maker.

I also wish I'd registered for a second set of sheets and maybe an extra set or two of towels.

I wish I hadn't registered for formal china - maybe b/c I did register for nice casual stuff (formal china prices) that I felt I never wanted/needed to use them. I returned the serving dishes, I wonder if I can return the plates after 6 years?

One thing I didn't register for but LOVE is a coffee urn. Seriously - i would have never thought about it, but I have used it a ton for GTGs/parties

Wow I just got back from my meeting to all these responses!! Thanks ladies!! I will be taking off the panini press! lol. I already have a grilled cheese maker that we use CONSTANTLY-so why can't I just use that for regular sandwiches? haha.

Thanks again for all the ideas!! We put on cheaper yet awesome balloon wine glasses from BBB, I agree that if we get lead crystal and it breaks my heart would shatter.

I just added more nice sheet sets-and an aerobed!! We always have overnight guests and the futon isn't 100% comfy.

Thanks so much everyone!!Chat Icon

I am a big wine drinker and did not need 12 crystal wine, water and champagne glasses at $30-$40 a pop, have not used them once yet Chat Icon

Go with the cheaper ones Chat Icon

Re: Wedding related - registries

Definitely the sheets and towels! I was so glad I registered for 6 sets of towels and like 3 sets of sheets.

I also registered for a water pitcher that I use all the time, so that might be an idea as well.

What about a new toaster or microwave?

I wish I had registered for a couple of normal sized platters. I registered for a huge one and a fluted one (to double as a cake plate) but, not a normal sized one.

My mom convinced me to register for a 9-cup food processor that I didn't use. DH told me we needed a deep fryer so he could make wings and he hasn't taken it out of the box yet at all!

Re: Wedding related - registries

I registered for the Braun multiquick handblender and I use it all the time. It's small and has many functions food processor/blender/mixer/chopper.

Joy of cooking cookbook. It gives you all the basics.

Good pots and pans that will last.

Register for a good vacuum.

I would resgister for a few expensive crystal/china serving pieces. I didn't but i got a few and they are really nice to have b/c i would have never got them for myself.

Nice bedding is a good idea too.

ETA - cast iron grill pan - I use it all the time.

I don't use my Kitenaid mixer all that much but I still love it! I love the way it looks!!

Aslo many places give you 20% off what is left on the registry so throw on some pricey things that you may want to get for yourself (life furniture) but you can do it after the shower so people don't think you are too greedy!!
