Wedding-related: Tell me your fave bridal shower ideas
I'm planning a bridal shower for my FSIL and was wondering if anyone could share their favorite ideas, games, activities, favors, etc. Anything that you have found to be memorable or that people raved about.
Thanks!

At my bridal shower my mom passed around an address book so that everyone could write theirs down. I thought it was a great idea because now I have a nice book with everyones addresses!

Re: Wedding-related: Tell me your fave bridal shower ideas
I went to a bridal shower where someone did a Honeymoon tote. It was a nice bag from JCrew and they put in flip flops, a sun hat, sun tan lotion, blanket and a GC to the spa at the hotel the couple was staying at.
I also did a video tap of my DH cousin answering question to how well he knows his soon to be wife. Then at the shower we asked her the same questions and then played the tape after each question to see if it matched up. It was pretty funny!

At my shower they added a card to the invitation asking for their favorite recipe. I now have a great recipe collection that I use all the time.

I liked the game that was played at Shorty's shower. It was a little booklet passed around with short rhymes and at the end of the rhyme would be example sentence "pass this book to whoever has on pink" or "pass this book to whoever is married the longest" etc. things like that it was fun, a great way to learn more about the people you were sitting with at the table.

Re: Wedding-related: Tell me your fave bridal shower ideas
I'm in the middle of bridal-shower mania.
For my SIL's shower, my other SIL took silicone cupcake holders and a cupcake-centerpiece display rack, and put a different pair of undies in each holder. It was so cute!
We also made a huge honeymoon basket, with towels, flip flops, bathing suits, a picture frame, lingerie, etc.
The other SIL also made a wine and cheese basket.
As far as games, I like to do bridal bingo during the gifts to keep people paying attention. I also like trivia about the couple. I've also done a bridal word scramble, and a game called "what's in your bag?" where people get points for having specific items in their purses (e.g., a blue BIC pen, advil, red nailpolish, a CVS card, etc.)
I also like when every guest brings a recipe for the bride.
I'll let you know what else I think of.

Re: Wedding-related: Tell me your fave bridal shower ideas
We did an "A - Z bridal shower" game (I had done it at a baby shower, too). People LOVED it and got really into it. You have them think of a kitchen item that starts with each letter of the alphabet. So (I’ll just pick some easy letters) for L it was a Ladle, for S it was a sponge, for M it was measuring cups, I was ice cube trays, P was papertowels. Each member of the bridal party had a few letters they were responsible for buying and wrapping. The guests all had to guess what each item was and whoever got the most correct won a prize. I passed out the sheets and explained the game before she even got there so it gave the guests something to do, too, while they were waiting. They were all getting really into it trying to guess the items. For X we actually got her a Xanex

Re: Wedding-related: Tell me your fave bridal shower ideas
At one of my bridal showers (I'm having 2 because FH's entire family is upstate where he grew up) the theme was our honeymoon... there were maps of our honeymoon location and random facts about the location at every table, tropical flowers, tropical drinks, and the wishing well was honeymooned themed.
I loved it and it was very different!

My bridal party had thank you cards made up that matched my beautiful invites. As the girls wrote down the gifts I received and who gave them there was a matching address label next to it. It made writing out thank you cards so easy!
The also did a cute game to find out who knew me best. They had corny questions about DH and I. It looked like people had a lot of fun answering them.
I also got a bunch of recipe cards which has come in handy so often!

Personally, I am NOT a fan of games. I was at a shower on Sunday and they had "optional" games. They were posted on a board and you could write your answers on cards and at teh end they revealed the winner. I thought it was such a nice way to do it.

Re: Wedding-related: Tell me your fave bridal shower ideas
they did this at mine, and i also did it at a friends shower that i just helped throw, it was a hit both times. if its not a huge shower: look online and get cute quotes or jokes about love/marriage (EX: " When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible", or "never discuss problems before dinner- husbands get very irritable when hungry"). SO get enough quotes/jokes for each person at the shower. put each one on a slip of paper. before the bride starts opeing presents, give one quote to each guest. before the bride opens that guest's present, the guest has to read the joke/quote. it REALLY REALLY is a GREAT way to keep people interested during the present opening- the jokes have them laughing the whole time, and they can't wait to hear what the next one will be.

My SIL did this for me! Her gift (besides the shower) was thank you cards that matched the shower theme and addressed, stamped envelopes. It made the 'thank you' process so much easier!
She also made a trivia game. She asked my DH funny questions about me (ie - what's my biggest pet peeve, what's my least favorite house chore, am I morning or night person, etc) and passed out the quiz to the guests. I read the questions out loud (and laughed because it was the first time I ever saw them!) and the winner of the quiz got a gift basket - it was really funny to hear some of the things DH came up with!!

My mom & sister did this too plus they created a Shower Booklet for each person to do while they were sitting down. I can send it to you if you would like.

I got a honeymoon bag & loved it. Sunglasses, flip flops, tank top, suntan lotion etc...
I make a holiday basket for any wedding I'm in or for close family. Calendar for Jan.1, heart candles for Valentines, Personalized Stockings for Christmas etc...

Re: Wedding-related: Tell me your fave bridal shower ideas
When I'm a guest I like Bingo because it makes the gift opening go faster.
For my shower, my sister made a sign in board with a pic of me and DH in the middle and it is such a nice keepsake. I have it hanging in my home office. She also bought these pretty cards where people wrote down their advice for a happy marriage which were also fun to read.

Thanks! my mamma and i can be pretty crafty.
i also like the themed gifts.. My mom made my sis a baking basket with rolling pin, pans, brownie mix, tons of other stuff and a mixmaster.. it was really cute. i also go nic a honeymoon bag. it was a vera bradley (across the shoulder travel purse) and i stuffed it with silly things like gum, mints, advil, band-aids, lingerie , maps of rome, venice and florence, Frommers books, tide to go pen.. etc. theyre always fun to open. and breaks up the oooo a blender and oooo a pot.. boring stuff.
