Weeks worth of menus?
So, what do you typically coon in a week? Do you do the same (or some of the same) dishes each week or do you switch it up? DH and I are getting serious about saving some $$$$ and cooking more and I'm starting to sit down and compile recipes (Which some of i got off of here- THANKS) Can you please post some of your favorite complete meals (main dishes and sides) so I can start preparing my grocery lists? I've been printing recipes all afternoon and am updating my recipe box tonight! TIA!!!

Re: Weeks worth of menus?
hum...here are some of our favs:
chicken cutlets (grilled, breaded & fried, or stuffed with a numerous amount of fillings like roasted red peppers/mozzarella, bread crumbs & mushrooms/parm cheese, ham & swiss, you can stuff a chicken breast or roll it around just about anything and bake it in the oven). Buy the thin cutlets if you want to roll it.
common sides w/chicken: cous cous (we like the parmesean flavor) frozen creamed spinach (they have a low fat one that is really good) mac & cheese (not the healthiest but both dh and I love boxed mac & cheese!) frozen corn w/thyme (YUM!) we always have salad
beef stir fry (beef, peppers, onions) over white rice (I usually make a gravy out of beef stock and deglaze both the veggie pan and the beef pan with it to add flavor and add flour to thicken). You can also serve w/egg noodles.
chicken sausage cut up and browned along w/mixed veggies (i like green & yellow zuchini and I add a can or two of stewed tomatoes)...over rice or pasta.
Flounder (baked w/fresh spinach & fresh lemon juice)
We like success brown rice boil in bag (its actually really good, doesn't come out soggy at all)...this is a common side for us.
Lets see, we also make meatloaf on occasion out of turkey chop meat. We also like tacos, out of the turkey meat (you can get almost fat free turkey).
I like to make veggie pizza (boboli crust or fresh pizza crust, peppers, artichokes, all types of cheese, etc etc (I usually make a chicken cutlet on the side for DH, I'm not a big meat eater)
HUMMmm...some nights we just do grilled chicken over salad or hamburgers, or I get a rotisserie chicken if I dont feel like cooking.
OK thats all I got for now! HTH!!!

Re: Weeks worth of menus?
Pasta with sauce or cherry tomatoes, arugula and tempeh bacon
Bean burritos - Refried beans, salsa, loads of veggies
Veggie burgers with either fries or bean salad (we're obsessed with my bean salad)
Veggie stir-fry with either tempeh or tofu over udon noodles
Homemade pizza on homemade crust
Soup with a really nice bread, like a rosemarry baguette
Last night we made falaffel from a Fantastic Foods mix and it was great
We also love punjab choley, which is an Indian chickpea dish that we buy at Trader Joe's pre-made and serve over cous-cous
And one of our favorites is a butternut squash and mixed veggies concoction with Israeli cous-cous. It's the best thing ever.
We eat a lot of the same things each week. Usually salad before dinner, but if we've got a lot of veggies in the meal, we'll skip it. We're not big fancy cooks.

Re: Weeks worth of menus?
i try not to cook the same things every week... but i don't have to cook every night because our schedules are opposite, so that makes it easier for me. i'm all about simple, quick recipes. -baked ziti -marinaded steak with tator tots -homemade hamburgers made with lipton onion soup mix, and french fries -homemade tacos -no bean chile in the crock pot -chicken parm with spagetti -baked clams & crab cakes with pasta -spagetti and cheese stuffed chicken meatballs -pork chops (made with shake and bake), with twice baked potatos and cinnaman apples -mini lamb chops with garlic mashed potatos and corn on the cob -chicken bake (the recipe is on the stove top box, it uses chicken-stove top-cream of chicken soup-mixed veggies-sour cream) - i make it just with biscuts -beef stew made in the crock pot -rotisserie chicken from stop-n-shop, make it with noodles and gravy and a veggie -roast beef if i'm going to be home all day to baste (then i used leftovers to make roast beef/mozzarella sandwiches on garlic bread with gravy) -pizza (we use the boboli crust)

This is a great thread - I get so tired of our same old meals. Once we get settled and back to eating normal every night I'm definitely trying some of these.
