weight question?
At my 2 week postpartum visit after my csection i had lost 37lbs (yes normally i'd be overjoyed but since i have at least another 40 to go - i'm not thrilled) it was water because i had major edema/swelling. I'm still swollen, my rings still don't fit but its much better.
Anyway, before i left the hospital the doc told me i'd be getting night sweats etc. (never happened) and although i lost that weight in 2 weeks, this past week i haven't lost anything.
I am bf'ing & i'm eating healthy and less. I did have GD which my docs believe were part of my weight gain (i gained 9lbs one week - NOT from food). my body was just storing everything. I go for another 1 hour glucose test in a few weeks to see if its gone.
So, my question is after the initial delivery weight loss, when did the next chunk of weight come off? was it gradual? did it not move for a couple of weeks?
I have a wedding in 2 weeks and need to buy a dress. I am DREADING this since i know i'm prob 3 sizes bigger than i've ever been and I really can't stand the sight of me. i'm not going to feel pretty not to mention i'm still sore and doubt i'll be dancing etc. but its a good friend so i must go. Shoes are another story - i'm still in flip flops from my swollen feet/ankles. I know its only been 3 weeks postpartum but i haven't seen my ankles since May!

Re: weight question?
After the initial loss - for me it was pretty slow moving - my twins are 2 and I still have 10 more pounds to lose.

Re: weight question?
my sis had alot of swelling and water weight on her third baby. She was had overproduction of amino. fluid. It took her 5 months to loose alot of the water weight and is still loosing and its been almost a 1 yr and 1/2 later. the only reason its that long is she is originally a size 0 and shes not exercising, well running after 3 kids i guess is a form of exercise.
But anyway it took about 5 months to see a real loss. I felt bad b/c she was my maid of honor and my wedding was 3 months after she gave birth, so she wasnt happy with her pics.

Re: weight question?
I lost all my weight with by my 6 week appointment, but I did get lost of night sweats, so maybe that helped, not sure.
I would wait to buy a dress till a few days beofrwe the wedding, becaseu you just never know how much you will loose in the next 2 weeks.

Re: weight question?
It took me 6 months to get down to my pre preggo weight. I'm not really sure HOW it came off- but around 5 months I got on the scale and I was almost there.....
Don't worry- it WILL come off! Give your body time to readjust- BFing helps a lot!

Re: weight question?
I had a "Few" extra pounds to start with.
I gained 30 Lbs while PG. Lost 26 Lbs by 1.5 weeks PP. Lost another 6 Lbs by the 6 weeks PP. Now at 4 months PP I lost another 6 Lbs. So really I am now 8 Lbs less than when I was pre PG.
Yet, I had a LOT of swelling at the end of the pregnancy to the point that I could only wear flip flops. I had a bigger size wedding band midway in my pregnancy (1 and 1/4 size bigger!!!). Which I could not wear either until 2 months PP.
While I have lost all this weight, my body is not the same. I am still wearing the bigger size band. My shoes don't fit anymore. And my hip/pelvis changed.

Re: weight question?
I gained 30 lb. with the pregnancy and four weeks later, I think I have lost about 17 lb. I DO get lots of night sweats too. I think I read somewhere that it's pretty gradual from 6 weeks PP and on but I think everyone's body is different. Just remember-it's only temporary!

Re: weight question?
I gained 24 lbs with my pregnancy. I weighed myself 7 days after I delivered and I only lost 9 lbs. (My DS weighed 7 lbs 14 oz - so talk about not fair). I lost all 24 lbs by 10 weeks post partum. My DS is now 12 weeks old and I am now down a few more pounds (4) but I still do not fit into my prepregnancy size, my rings still don't fit, and my shoe size is bigger. My body shape also shifted/changed. At three weeks I felt awful from the c-section. I really did not like how I looked. My mom draged me to the mall - it was one of the worst experiences of my life. I cried so much. Honestly- don't look at the size. Just get something flattering. You will loose the weight- look at it as motivating to loose it faster after the 6 week mark when you should be able to do more things.

Re: weight question?
For me bf'ing made no difference in weight loss, especially now since I can compare post pg weight loss with GIanna (bf)/amelia(form).
Gained 50 & 40lbs, i lost a 20-25 lbs the 1st month and by the end of the second i lost another 10 with both pgs.
After that I lose about a 1lb a week.
I am now 15lbs away from my goal weight, 10lbs away from pre-pg weight with Gianna. I am almost 4 months PP.
ETA: What's great now is that everything in style now is very post baby friendly. You'll look great! And everyone, even though you may not see it, will tell you how beautiful you look after just becoming a new mommy. I know i would

Re: weight question?
I lost 30lbs within 3 weeks; then I lost another 5 lbs since (she's nearly 4 months now) but I still have 10lbs to go...I think the breastfeeding/pumping has definitely helped b/c I'm not really watching what I eat at all.

Re: weight question?
I gained 30lbs during my pregnancy and was a healthy normal weight to begin with. After delivering DS a week later I had lost 15lbs. Since then I have been BF, eating healthy and started some light exercise last week I have lost NOTHING. NOT ONE POUND. And, the worst part is I look more like I have 30lbs to lose than 15 b/c my body is all out of whack. This is frustrating me to no end and I just cannot understand it so I totally feel your pain
Oh and I did get those night sweats but guess it didnt make any difference.
