weird C-sections questions--what are you allowed to bring into the OR?

Where is all my "stuff" during the operation? My handbag, wallet, suitcase? Will my DH be allowed to bring in something in case he gets low sugar? He's insulin dependent and usually carries candy. Should I get him a tube of glucose instead? I already have fears that my surgery will be like the episode of Seinfeld with the junior mints and the surgery.

lol that was a funny episode lol,, i would call the hospital and ask them specifically what you can bring, since all hospitals are different.

Re: weird C-sections questions--what are you allowed to bring into the OR?

For my c-section my pocketbook, camera and clothing I wore into the hospital was in the labor room. DH was permitted to bring the camera into the OR. Before I had my c-section they gave DH scrubs, hat and booties. He put them on and was permitted to come in when they gave me the anesthesia. DH stayed with me until the baby was out of me then he went with DS. Once I was stitched up the nurse put my stuff under the bed I was in. She got it from the labor room. DH brought DS to the recovery room for me. My hospital bag stayed in the car the entire time. Once I was moved to my room DH went to the car and got my hospital bag.
ETA: DH was permitted to bring the camera into the OR.

My hospital gave me a plastic bag to put my clothes and shoes in. I didn't bring in a wallet at all. My DH had my insurance card and license; he also had the camera.

Basically, all that went into the room with me was myself (in gown, odd stockings and shower cap...lol) and my IVs. DH came in after I was on the table and we were allowed to have the camera. DH and the anesthesiologist took a bunch of pics.

After I was in a room, DH got my hospital bag from the car.

ETA...the plastic bag was in my room magically when I got there...I guess one of the nurses/aides brought it in.

I only brought my driving licence and insurance card and cell phone in a little clutch. All my belongings (shoes, clothes, clutch, etc..) were put in a hospital plastic bag and left with me until I was ready to go to the OR. DH bought food from the cafeteria and ate in the triage room. Your DH can bring food. He will need it. There is no telling how long you will be in recovery. I was there for 7 hours. And my c-section was pushed out for almost 2 hours.

DH kept my belongings until I went in the OR. He kept the camera out and took it with him into the OR. He could not take video but was allowed to take pics of DS when he was being cleaned up after he was born.

We left my hospital bag in the trunk until I went to my room after recovery. No need to haul everything with you.

NOTHING goes into the OR with you... Dh can keep his camera and insulin in his pocket-- but make sure you let the nurse know he's a diabetic... ( as An OR nurse a heads up would be greatly appreciated...)

I agree, tell the nurse and your dr. that your husband is insulin dependent. They need to know that. Also, I was taken to my room before my c-section since it was planned. I left all my clothes and belongings there. I felt safe doing that and I had nothing of real value in there anyway. My mom held my wallet in the waiting room and JT brought in the camera.

I had an induction and I believe all my stuff stayed in the labor/delivery room that I was in until they assigned me a room in maternity.
DH was brought in after they did the anesthesia and was allowed to bring in the camera.
The neonatologist actually took a lot of pics for us
