weird comment on facebook about LO's sex and question
so DH posted a pic of me preggers on his facebook and one of his friend's said " oh I can tell you are totally having a girl"
Dh wrote back that we are actually expecting a boy and she said "well, we'll see"
so I ASSUME she was joking but it got us to thinking what if the one sono was wrong!?
now i totally don't think it was - it was pretty clearly a boy. but do any of you know anyone who was told they were expecting one sex and then found out they were having another way late or at birth?

Re: weird comment on facebook about LO's sex and question
I hate comments like that. I had a few people telling me AFTER I announced girl "I don't know, still think it's a boy". Umm, there was no penis, just a very clear labia shot. lol. I hated how they made me start 2nd guessing for a while
Anyways, I asked my SIL (who's a nurse and assists in a lot of deliveries) if she's ever seen this and she said in all her years it has always been the gender mom & dad were told. But that doesn't mean that it CAN'T happen. I had a friend in highschool who had told me that her parents were told she was a boy all the way thru pregnancy and then when she was born SURPRISE!! But sonos weren't as good back then as they are now. I wouldn't really worry.

What week were you told boy? I believe if it was past 16 weeks, they wouldn't have told you unless they were sure.
I really dislike when people say things like that. I find it really obnoxious, upsetting, and pointless. I'm ready to tell this "friend" of your husband to put a sock in it... or worse.
Hee hee, I just thought of something... ask her if she, too, has a penis, like your SON obviously does.

Re: weird comment on facebook about LO's sex and question
crashing... this happened to my friends sister. She was told it was a girl but then 2 weeks before her due date she found out it was really a boy. She had to quickly exchange a ton of her gifts from her shower and redo the whole nursery. Everyone was shocked.
i think its really rare that this happens but you never know. However, I wouldn't listen to someone who is just guessing based on a fb picture. she probably has no idea what she is talking about.

Re: weird comment on facebook about LO's sex and question
ugh, how frustrating!
I only know one person who was told one gender and her baby was really the other. HOWEVER...the sono tech also told her several times that she was only about 60% sure that it was a boy because she couldn't get a good picture at all (she kept squirming around). She had a sono a couple of weeks before giving birth and they were like 95% sure it was a girl.
MOST sono techs wouldn't tell you a gender unless they were absolutely certain, and if they are not certain, they would let you know that it's merely a guess. If the tech said you're having a boy, then you are having a boy! .
