Weird Food Taboos
Since you're now being pregnant you're probably subjected to alot of scrutiny about what you eat....
Besides, the usual taboos like alcohol, cold cuts, soft cheese, etc. what other food were you told not to eat during your pregnancy?
I was told not to eat watermelon, pineapple, mango and other food that are supposedly bad for your blood circulation or are too acidic.
I had to restrain myself from rolling my eyes when I heard that from my suposedly educated sisters and SILs who actually followed those rules when pregnant. :P

Re: Weird Food Taboos
no watermelon, and no bananas. I 'm not sure why the water melon but bananas are too smooth and will cause the baby to slide out, so silly

Re: Weird Food Taboos
Watermelon is too 'cool' so may lead to poor blood circulation. :P
It's a bunch of old wives' tales. I trust my doctor more and as far as I know they encourage eating lotsa fruits and veggies!

Re: Weird Food Taboos
The way I figure it, my mom ate whatever the he** she wanted while she was pregnant both times, even had a glass of wine a week, and we both turned out fine.
I actually wonder if all of the foods we are abstaining from during pregnancy are helping to contribute to all of these new food allergies popping up in children...

Re: Weird Food Taboos
Bananas can cause constipation, so if you are having trouble with that, I'd avoid 'em. The other stuff is just an old wives' tale.
I was also told to avoid anything with artificial sweetners.

Re: Weird Food Taboos
I eat watermelon, mango and pineapple every week. No probs so far
I have cold cuts as well. There are always boars head from the reputable place by my house
The doc said everything in moderations.
He just gave me a list of essential oils and food flavorings to try to avoid
I have had 2 glasses of wine during the pregnancy and fresh mozzarella 2 or 3 times
