Can't you guys state your opinions without calling each other names?? I can't believe the crap I'm seeing on this site lately.
Sorry not sorry - if people can't wear a mask and literally can't handle it, you're getting called names for being the reason out society is dying. An opinion is whether or not you like potato chips, not whether or not you should wear a mask Grow up lol
Nobody is arguing your point- or at least a majority of us aren't. I am a HUGE believer in masks. My family wears them all the time. My kids have worn them for hours at a time with zero issue. I agree it is not opinion- it is fact that masks work. Just wondering why people have to be so nasty about it. On BOTH sides.

I don't think it's nasty. it's exasperation that people are belaboring this 4 months later

Re: Weird mask question - do you wear one at the drive through
so I wont quote again.
I wouldnt have called names if people decided to not call me one. Either way in the long run I could give 2 craps if someone calls me names judges me etc. You wont find me saying people are bullying me etc. I will survive!
One person who is all bent out of shape that I do not wear a mask at a drive thru has yet to justify why you are allowed to NOT WEAR A MASK while ordering food at a restaurant but its not ok to not wear a mask at drive thru where your in your car interacting with someone else for maybe a minute.
Common Sense will tell you if you do not have to wear one while sitting at a table ordering food you would not have to wear one while ordering from your car!
but maybe its not common sense so please tell me how ordering from a car without a mask is not acceptable but doing it in a restaurant is?
Don't want to hear it common courtesy etc. i want to know why these 2 situations are so different.
I wear masks when I have too. even if I don't like them and may not want to!

Weird mask question - do you wear one at the drive through
If it makes you feel better, I think dining never should have been opened. I think there should be nothing allowed that prevents people from wearing a mask.
I’m still confused why, however, you still think it’s such a big deal to put a mask on for the minute, when you absolutely could be transmitting Covid.

Inconsistent rules shouldn't keep you from doing the right thing.
People SHOULD put on a mask when dealing with waitstaff.
You're engaging in whatabout ism to derail the conversation.

so now the argument is that I should be doing the right thing not following the rules. So now that I follow the rules I am still wrong! I see!!
so who exactly decides what the right thing is?? individual people?
And i guess that means you judge every person who is in a restaurant following the rules and not wearing their mask at a table!! got it. At least I am not the only one being judged!!

Re: Weird mask question - do you wear one at the drive through
When you are within 6 feet of someone and cannot social distance, wear a mask.
This is not complicated.
This is not brain surgery.
You are picking a strange hill to die on.
Wear the mask. Keep one in the car. Put it on as people have said a million times at this point.
I judge the ACTION. We are obviously a sum of our actions, but I don't know you well enough to know if this is who you are or if you are having a bad day and making a bad call.
However, your responses make you sound like a toddler having a tantrum over NOTHING. "Why mom? But why? WHHHYYYYYY?????"

I am not having a tantrum maybe you are.
i am sick of people saying that people are not doing the right thing. you made a point and so do I. I think it quite fair to ask why the 2 situations are so different.
we were told we do not have to wear one in certain situations So I do not wear them and some how I am still the one in the wrong!!
basically you said I should be listening to the rules but now I shouldn't be and I should do the right thing but again who exactly decides what the right thing is to do??
is it a matter of opinion? if so great I have my opinion you have yours move on and dont judge me about mine just like I dont judge you on yours.
AGAIN I wear masks when I am supposed to. I am following the rules. I did not make them so dont be all pissy at me for following them!

I have found that if you get that feeling you have to sneeze but it's not coming, if you put your head back and look up at the ceiling, it helps it along. Nothing scientific, just something that works for me.
Or looking to the sky (when it’s sunny), it works like a charm! Nothing worse than feeling a sneeze coming and then a second later it’s gone.
Sorry to derail the previous argument, but it actually is a scientific thing. I'm one of those that sneezes when you look at the sun or a bright light.
Sun-sneezers have a certain piece of DNA that's different from non-sun-sneezers. This genetic change is passed down from generation to generation. And it causes a mix-up in the brain, making sunlight trigger a sneezing reflex. https://genetics.thetech.org/ask/ask239
Ok, carry on!

ITA. with above poster 100! I don't think dining should be opened either and I haven't gone. Are you happy your question was answered now????Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. Nobody is forcing you to go to a restaurant.

Ok that’s good for you but if I’m allowed to I am doing it. I don’t want to stay in and not do anything.
You don’t like don’t do it. You have a problem with it call Cuomo and bitchhh to him not me; he is the one who allowing it.
Stop blaming people for following the rules. It’s like people can’t win you follow the rules great unless you people don’t agree with the rule then all of a sudden you shouldn’t be following the rules!
You can do what you want I am not judging you. But guess what your opinion does not need to be followed by all you are not in power to make decisions for everyone. Want that power run for governor.

Re: Weird mask question - do you wear one at the drive through
Assuming you're right and there are inconsistent rules in indistinguishable situations...why wouldn't you recognize that they're indistinguishable and do right by the server standing a few feet away? Why wouldn't you? Because you don't "have " to?
I don't think dining should have been opened either, and my heart hurts for servers, wearing masks, who have to be exposed to people who disregard the law and people who exploit opportunities to harm others.
Do most restaurants really not insist that you wear a mask when the server is right there? I don't care what the law requires; I wouldn't want to be party to harming someone who is serving me and protecting me by wearing a mask. It's only decent.
So much of this boils down to basic decency.
Eta: It's not "not following the rules" to wear a mask when a server is standing next to you. It's just refusing to endanger them and their family because you know they are not in a position to ask you to spare them.

Weird mask question - do you wear one at the drive through
Ok-so you don’t “have” to wear a mask. But, you of know that masks work, and that you may help protect that server. Why would you choose not to?

You realize how unrealistic it is to keep a mask on while sitting down and eating.
Am I really going to keep putting my mask on every time my waiter comes to my table? Especially while I am in the middle of eating.
It probably does more harm then good to have to constantly put your mask on and touch your face every time.
Either way restaurants are open there are sets of rules and people are following them. There is no reason to be a Judgmental assshole to the people following them because you don’t think that rule is good enough.
Be a judgmental assshole to the person who set them! ETA : if a waiter asked me to please put on a mask I would listen. But I have a feeling most waiters or waitresses don’t even want to wear the mask themselves!

Speaking condescendingly to someone has never in the history of mankind resulted in getting your point across.
And it doesn’t make you look more intelligent either.

you're speaking just as condescendingly...so yeah, you're proving exactly your own point.
the point is, once you know wearing a mask is the logical, safer, and smarter choice, arguing that you simply won't wear one just makes you look plum dumb *shrug* why should anyone mince words after that?

Weird mask question - do you wear one at the drive through
I really don't understand why it is so hard for people to figure out that we need to wear masks. Is it the best thing in the world? No. Do I like wearing my mask? No. Do I think I'm going to go broke coordinating my teenagers mask to her outfits? Yes.
If you can not be 6 feet apart from someone, wear a mask. That is it. Not difficult. When you are in a restaurant, you should be wearing your mask when the waitstaff is around. You take it off just to eat. When you are done, put it back on.
This is such a simple thing that can be done to help others. What a selfish world we live in if putting on a small piece of fabric across our face is causing such drama.

my friend with a teenage daughter said the same thing about coordinating outfits!
