Re: welcome home party question
Ha ha, I read it as housewarming party. Ignore that previous response.
I would still bring booze for the party or a little something if I personally knew the person who was coming home.

welcome home party question
Im not sure what a welcome home party is.. but I would think no. I would bring a hostess gift-- flowers, booze or a food item though

Re: welcome home party question
i'm planning a party for my son coming back home from the military.
i'm assuming that there aren't any gifts expected at this party, but a coworker said something that made me wonder, so i thought i'd ask.

welcome home party question
I would probably do a small gift card or a small gift, bottle of liquor or something because I always feel like I can’t show up empty handed but I don’t think it’s expectation

Ah! ok! I aree with you I dont think if i received an invitation to this kind of event I would feel the need to bring a present for the honoree. I would bring a host gift though as I would to any get together.

welcome home party question
I think it depends on my relationship with the person coming home - if someone I knew well, I'd probably put together a little welcome home gift basket or something. If it's someone i didn't know well, i'd probably just bring something for the host.

welcome home party question
ok. thanks. i'm not expecting anyone to bring him gifts.
it's really going to just be a family gathering... the only reason it's going to be a little bit more than a backyard party is because SO is working on the house and i know the project won't be finished in time. so i'm going to have it at a local restaurant.

Re: welcome home party question
While I have never been to a welcome home party, I think if I were going to a party thrown for a specific person, I would bring a gift for that person regardless of what the event was.

I probably wouldn’t think to give a gift at this type of party.
