You have to understand people sying that. By working ina service industry, you may be sibject to more comments like that.

As opposed to a corporate type job, those who are in the service indstry are almost expected to be able to be more accomodating with respect to those who work a M-F, 9-5ish job.

I don't think anyone is telling you that what you do 40+ hours a week isn't work, but you should try and understand it from their perspective.

I definitely understand it, and have the same problem being that I work 10-7, but we are here until 8PM EVERY night. We accommodate most schedules and even stay late, but Memorial Day weekend? Come on.......

I never said we are 9-5, we aren't even close!

This is what I always wonder...who comes to see you before 6pm and how often would you be booked with appointments during the day? (I have no idea what aspect of the wedding business you're in, btw.)

I have to choose all vendors and service providers based on their hours. DH and I have very demanding jobs and would never have been able to take a day off from work and meet with any wedding vendor.

Believe it or not, I get most of my paperwork done in the AM, returning phone calls, doing follow ups.....all the new appointments are in the evenings, and we are here, we just can't be available for every single person's special circumstances....we would never go home!

I wonder that too, who is in places like that in the middle of the day...sometimes when I go home at lunchtime, I am like who are all these people out in the middle of the day? Do they work? Maybe they work nights?

I don't think you should take it too personal Gina. It's not you who sets the hours right?

I'm in the same industry, and my "hours" are weeknights and weekends, but I'm the one that controls the work hours.

In agreement w/what suven said - I booked my vendors solely based on their availability, and found a majority of the businesses (DJs, Photo, etc.) were open from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m.

We get the same thing from clients at my job (attorney's office) alot of these people want want want but never give when it comes to their schedule they work. So do the rest of us but some how we all manage to get our stuff. SOmetime I feel like saying to them we are helping you out why don't you flex a little bit(thats putting it nice)
