Were summer camps officially cancelled?
Just wanted to check, did Cuomo ever make an announcement regarding summer camps being cancelled? I know he had said he personally would not send his kids but I don't know if there was anything official.
Thanks!

No, I don't think they're officially cancelled. But, camps are deciding on a case-by-case basis to open or close. The camp my daughter was going to go to sent an email to the effect of "we would have wanted to open, but we wouldn't be able to give the kids the proper camp experience at this time, so we're closed for this summer."

Cuomo hasn’t officially released a decision. Camps are still waiting for NY guidelines which should be released today.
So far Coleman. Shibley, Buckley, Usdan, Merrick woods, twin oaks and camp w have canceled.
Crestwood, Driftwood, pierce, Ivy League, north shore, kenwal and park shore are still holding on.
Editing to add Alevernia had also canceled

Re: Were summer camps officially cancelled?
How about in NJ: Murphy said they are working on camps being opened this summer and will let us know. But this is after many have already closed or cancelled because they couldn't meet the ridiculous CDC guidelines. I feel like he is now speaking on it because many are starting to cancel.
I posted this before, but this was a message from a camp in North NJ a week or 2 ago before Muprhy spoke about camps (pretty sad):

Re: Were summer camps officially cancelled?
I don't think camps have been officially cancelled by the state, but all the ones we we're considering have already sent out refund checks to the people that did register.

so same is happening in NY. I think because many have already cancelled, now the "Governors" want to make a decision. This is starting to become a total crap show.
Its like f#k the kids, they will be fine. Forget your jobs momma's, stay home and deal with it.

So far the camp my two oldest are signed up for is opening June 29th as planned. I guess we will find out today if that can really happen. I will be surprised if he allows them to open though. I am preparing myself.

Me too, I don't think he will let them open but then at least i can move forward in having a conversation with my boss about the possibility of being able to work remotely in the summer. So far my son's summer school has been cancelled and just waiting on my DD's camp.

I don’t see him allowing any camps to open. Especially considering his comments last Thursday about not sending his kids to camp and not asking anyone else to.....

I don't see offices being allowed to open in the summer anyway so you may be forced to be remote anyway. Unless you are considered essential?

I'm not essential but not sure at what phase they would be asking us to come back into the office.

We have no set date as we are non-essential and working from home but thinking at least by the beginning of July. I would think most people would be going back in phase 2 to work so they would need care.

Our headquarters, in VA is opening mid June. But I am not sure what phase they will be in by then and what the rule is in that state. However, they are making coming to the office voluntary for now- since they know a lot of people have no child care still. Which is nice of them.

Yes - offices are Phase 2 but, they aren't expecting us in every day, or at all if we have childcare issues. Some local daycares are taking more school aged children full time to accommodate those who need care...
I am in a cube, not an office, so I don't know when I will go back as I am not sitting in a mask all day since I can do the same work from home maskless. It's not like we will be allowed to have in person meetings or actually socialize...

The mask thing came up on our call yesterday. They said they don't expect you to sit at your desk or in your office with a mask on all day. They are staggering schedules so those who sit in adjacent cubes wont be in on the same day so as long as you are sitting at your desk no mask will be required. It will only be required to move around the space- like go to the bathroom, go to the kitchen ,etc

Re: Were summer camps officially cancelled?
There are more details on phase 2 for offices now on the NY forward page.
basically you can reopen in stage 2 (but NYC isn't evenin phase 1 yet), but you have to social disctiacne & wear masks when you can't f you share desks, you have to clean them beteen uses.
if doesn't seem owrth it if remote work is working. ( depends on the business, i guess)
My husband's office has been discussing going back, but the parents have said they cannot go back if there is no camp & evne if there isn't a madandate saying no camps, as psoted above, many are already closed.

This is what confuses me. I’ve been asking this since day 1, how can educations and camps be phase 4? How do you open non essential business and allow people back to office? Who is watching these kids??
