Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?

my office is in Oceanside, on Royal Ave (on the canal)
i cannot even explain what I walked into today
everything is destroyed. we had 8 inches of water. my CEO said he waded through fish and jellyfish in the main lobby on sunday. we lost everything, walls, carpets, flooring, anything wood. everything is ruined. it smells, its slimy, its just awful.
this is my office. not my home. i cannot even begin to imagine how awful it would be if this was my house
i for anyone who is going through this in their own HOME
I live around the corner from Royal Ave. We had extreme flooding and our basement is destroyed. The water has NEVER come up this high in years and years.
I cannot stand when people say the storm wasnt bad, or " what hurricane ?" . Just because nothing may have happened to you, doesn't mean that this was not a bad storm. If it wasnt such a " bad storm" then how come so many homes dont have power still at this moment? did they watch the news and see all of the flooding?? This was only a low cat 1 hurricane and look at the destruction it has caused. What do these people think a bad storm is? I just dont get it.

Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?
sorry but you would have to be a real special kind of idiot to be disappointed that your house wasn't destroyed, that your car wasn't totaled and that your life was spared.
it's like aww shucks man.... a tree didn't fall on my house, I was so looking forward to that... so exciting!!

Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?
I have no power, not expecting it anytime soon. Lots of insanity & people grumbling over LIPA eveywhere. I have family in other states like MD and NC and they're in the same boat with the power outages But I also have family who are in NJ & Upstate in areas devastated by flash flooding from the various rivers. People losing their houses - some in areas that havent flooded in 40+ years (so without flood insurance!) Main roads being washed away. People need to get a clue. Just because it's not in your circle of friends, inot n your 10 mile radius doesn't make it any less devastating. So for people to go around talking about how it wasn't so bad, they need to stuff a sock. Have some compassion and empathy.

Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?
I completely agree. My parents had extensive damage done to their property. They had 5 trees fall on their property. Luckily none hit the house but they still had a lot of damage and it totaled BOTH of their cars (including one that was brand new). Whenever I hear people say they were "disappointed" in the storm, I want to punch them I'm the face. Seriously? These people should consider themselves lucky and be thankful. It annoys the hell out of me. It's almost disrespectful to those of us that are feeling direct effects of the storm (those who had damages, lost their homes or worse had loved ones die).
What did people want houses to have blown away, or have millions of people die?!?!!? It's ridiculous!!!

Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?
I had to defriend someone on FB because she just pi$$ed me off way too much. I seriously have never defriended anyone ever!
Said something along the lines of "ok Northeast, you had a little rain, can we get back to REAL news now?" and posted a link of Somalia.
Yes, I know that Somalia is in bad shape. I get it. But when a tornado hits her Alabama town she'll be crying because we're focusing more on foreign countries than our own.
Now she's crying because we're focusing on our own country instead of a foreign country. Idiot.

Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?
Oh h e l l no. I am so grateful that a power outage was the worst of what we experienced at my house. It could have been so much worse for us and I really feel for the people who lost everything.
