Nope. But, we went to all the parties!! I also dated guys who were in fraternities. I just didn't have interest in joining sororties. I had enough friends as it was.

I like my organization as a whole and what they stand for I just didnt like the new sisters that were joining after me. The ones before me were great but the ones after me I could completely live without.
There are only 2 girls from my "new member" class that I stayed close too. We knew each other before the sorority. Of all the other sisters their is only 1 that I am still really close too. She and her husband were both in our wedding party. The rest of them I dont even remember their names.
I think each persons experience is different. My first year I loved and everything was wonderful but the following years just got worst and worst. Their were days I was ashamed of my letters because of the hatred I had of the chapter. Now I am in the alumni chapter and proud of the sorority and all it's done. The chapter itself at the college I went to if it shut down wouldnt faze me at all. I love the organization just not the chapter I was in.

I went to Binghamton too, but I went to 5 frat parties my freshman year and that was it - I hated them!

I went to Binghamton 1996-1998 and then I took a leave apparently I liked the bars a little too much and forgot that I was supposed to be studying!

i wasn't, but i kind of wish i was. I really wanted to, but I didn't have the $400 +/year to join. My mom was completely anti-sorority and wouldn't pay... while my dad wanted me to start a chapter of my step-mom's sorority on my campus (probably just to spite my mom )
Even though I didn't join one, the girls who I lived with freshman year became a tight knit group, and we still get together and see eachother pretty often.

Actually pledging if done right is needed for all new members. Its a time to learn about the sorority history and values and secrets. THat part was fine by me.
Sadly, most of them have hazing issues. Sisters once in a sorority go on power trips. It was really patethtic to watch the girls in mine, because i could not understand how they got pleasure out of that.
I tried to change it around the next semester but the pledge mom (i was the asst) went into a power trip too so i just gave up.
