What about therapy on break
DS was accepted to a preschool for 1/2 day. We are currently going through the process of transitioning him into CPSE as he turns 3 in October.
I was informed by the director that the school will close for 3 weeks in August. What happens to his therapy during that time. Do I call EI now and ask for therapy while school's out?
This is my first experience with special needs and a school. During the week when he is not in school, DS will be in daycare and receiving ABA there until school.

EI provides services on school breaks. Once you transition to CPSE, the services follow the school district calendar- no school = no services. If he's transitioning at the end of August, he will most likely be able to get services until the end of August. If he's transitioning before then, I would ask your EI service coordinator to be sure.

Re: What about therapy on break
If he will be receiving therapy services at school and school is closed, he would not then receive services during that time period.

Re: What about therapy on break
Cpse services are not provided when your school district is closed summer services are only 6 weeks. unless you have wrap around services you would not receive services after the preschool program ended for the summer.

Re: What about therapy on break
I remember telling the school I wanted EI services to continue at home. I didn't get the same therapists or amount but at least something a couple of times a week. They made me feel I was lucky to get something....so I guess they are not required to?? I would request in writing then follow up in person. If his IEP states services in school only you would have to change it to both in order to have someone come to the home during those 3 weeks and I guess they would have to find a teacher willing to come.
