We started just shy of 6 months. I really don't think it's a good idea to rush it -- watch the kid not the calendar.

Look for signs that she's ready: Can she sit up on her own? Can she turn her head away from you to tell you she's done? Has she lost her tongue reflex? Usually those things start to happen between 5 and 6 months and are good indications that it's time to introduce some complementary food.

Right now your baby needs the nutrients in breastmilk or formula -- they're perfectly designed to support her growth -- nutrients in apple sauce or cereal won't do that.

We just started 5 days ago. She is about 4.5 months old. All she gets is 1-2T of rice cereal so far. She doesn't seem to like it either. If you feel your baby is ready then try it.

DD got the go ahead at 4 months but we decided to wait until she was 5.5 months.

My pediatrician said to start at 4 months but when I asked if it was necessary they said no...just fun. So I wanted to wait until 6 months but by 5 1/2 months he was showing signs of being ready so we tried...and he took to it like a champ.

we skipped baby food. We waited untill Kaitee was able to eat soft table foods around 7 months old.
