Re: What Age Did You Start To Potty Train DC?

Julia was ready to start when she was a little over a year old, she would tell me when she went pee and poop in her diaper, so I tried potty training her, but the problem was her telling me before she had to go....so I waited till she was a little older to understand it. She's almost 3 now and loves the idea of sitting on the potty, and she will tell me when she has to go, but she's so afraid of letting the pee and poop out that its very fustrating for me, she has to be potty trained by Sept for school, so I'm hoping I will have more luck in the summer when she can run around naked if she wants to--lol

This sounds like my kids.

To be honest with you, before I had kids and right after my first was born, I swore he'd be potty trained ASAP, but I think that for the most part, although they do show some sort of interest, I think that once I went back to them to proceed to train them, they almost pulled back, so I pulled back too.

That's not to say it's not doable, but all I'm saying is just to be aware that it takes time for most, not all. Chat Icon

No I totally understand, thats why I pullled back to and will wait till she's ready. Some of the moms at her school told me that they have to be sort of trained, but the teacher will call me if she does poop in her pull up they don't change them. So hopefully by Sept she will at least go pee and poop in the toilet---lol

I kind of let her take the wheel. I had it in my mind that I would have her trained by X time, but with the divorce and the sale of the house, there was often regression issues and she just wasn't ready. I would say she's been 100% consistent (I think the only "accident" we had was when she was sick with a stomach virus) since before Christmas. She's 3 1/2.

OMG! I would die if I had to run to the school to change her pull-up! LOL

Just let her run around barebottom (or with undies). I swear by this. My son pulled back (regressed) (especially with DD on the way), so I just held off until the summer before he turned 3 (last summer).

He trained so quickly by just letting him wet himself (using undies). he did that the first day 1/2 and then after that, he was actually able to telll when he had to go. I did have poopy issues with him though. he had a hard time letting it go.. That was annoying, but he did get passed it. Believe it or not, letting him feel the poops in his pants, and feeling how uncomfy it was, made him realize that it wasn't worth holding onto lmao

Good luck! I'm sure she'll do great! Chat Icon

I could have written this post word for word.

Heres to making them realize that undies are SO much better than diapers. I told dd yesterday that her poppy is starting to smell like daddy's and that it was time for her to go in the potty. I am so over changing big girl poop and pee. It smellsChat Icon

DS Chat Icon started when he was 2.5. Was fully trained by 3.

DD Chat Icon I plan on starting this summer. She'll be 2 in May. We'll see.

We started when she was a little under 2. She's 2.5 now & she does use the potty, but only when we make her sit there for a while. It's so frustrating.

Re: What Age Did You Start To Potty Train DC?

My first Chat Icon was about 2yrs old and my middle guy is turning 3 next month and I'm on week 3 of potty training. He wears a pull up at night and if I going somewhere far or for awhile. He still has about 2 accidents a day. I'm hoping for him to be completely trained by September because I would like him to start pre-school and he has to be trained to go.
