What age did you/will you start to potty train?
Just curious what the average age is. DD is almost 14 months and I'm not sure when I should start.

Re: What age did you/will you start to potty train?
DS will be 2 in April and I am going to start probably this summer. I think girls may be a little easier to train from what I've heard so you may have luck earlier than 2.
I put DS on the toilet once and he freaked out so I just stopped. I didnt want to scare him and than have a problem later on.

Re: What age did you/will you start to potty train?
I tried at 12-13 months and he wanted NOTHING to do with it. I sat him on his potty and he stood up to get out of there asap. I am thinking about re-instrucing it again "soon". He is 17+ months.

Re: What age did you/will you start to potty train?
We are going to start after Christmas. DD will be almost 17 months when we start.
The only reason why I am starting this early- is because she says "poopy" when she is about to, and she walks into the bathroom and points to her diaper, and goes "pee pee".
Plus, I have inspiration from another LIF mommy.

Re: What age did you/will you start to potty train?
DS is 17 months and I don't forsee potty training anywhere in our near future.
He doesn't speak yet so I can't imagine it.
I am thinking I will start to think about it at 2-2 1/2

Re: What age did you/will you start to potty train?
I began exactly at age 2 with my older DD. She was 100% trained at 2 years 9 mos. She didn't want anything to do with it for the longest--when she was ready, it took less than 2 weeks.
Even though my younger DD (who is almost 19 mos.) has been telling me when she goes for months now, and knows what the bathroom is all about, I do not plan on starting until age 2...which comes in May.

Re: What age did you/will you start to potty train?
we started at about 18 months, she was doing good (peeing 1-2 times a day) but lately, she is not doing too much
I put her on the potty a few times a day but I don't stress if she resists

DD was 2&1/2 and showed signs of being ready. She took to it really well.

Same here.
He likes to try it. Sometimes he does something, sometimes he just wants to flush.
I ask first, if he says yes, we sit, if not, we don't.
But he sees the big kids at daycare do it and always wants to try too.

Re: What age did you/will you start to potty train?
My son trained right before he turned 3 and he trained pretty easily then. At 18 mos I thought he showed signs and he'd sit but wasn't ready until much later on. He was probably ready around 2.5 but I wasn't. My youngest is 16 mos and asks to sit on the potty to do peepee everyday, many times a day but has yet to go but no way am I training him....diapers are so easy!!! I tell everyone don't rush into training!!

My oldest DS wasn't ready till he was 3 so I 'm assuming my youngest will be around the same.

Re: What age did you/will you start to potty train?
I started at about 20 months but only because my DD started to show interest, otherwise I would have probably waited until around 2

Re: What age did you/will you start to potty train?
I read somewhere (I can't for the life of me remember where I read it) that 27 months old is the 'magic ' age when something clicks and most kids will pick it up easy. It was the perfect age for Kaitee.
I put her in big girl panties and told her if she went in the potty she would get a sticker for her sticker board(that was next to the potty). She had 4 accidents (over 2 days).
I had watched a show (I think it was The Doctors) where this woman talked about the ways she potty trains (she does it for a living). She said she has the child help clean up the mess. So when Kaitee had her accidents she helped me clean up (she has to do EVERYTHING I do anyway) and I think that REALLY helped her learn that she wasn't suppose to make that mess. All I said was "we go peepee in the potty, help me clean this up please"
She was day potty trained in just 2 days! Less than a week later we went to San Fransisco (about an hour away) and she held her pee until we got to our destination and she peed in a public potty for the first time). She hasn't had an accident since.
I plan to wait till around the same age til we start with Brooke.
It was SOOO easy and stress free that I am glad I waited till she was 27 months.
