I always feel we're pretty ready, but I did run out yesterday and buy another gallon of milk for my kids! 
I always have tons of batteries thanks to Costco, and I have flashlights and a battery operated radio. If we lose power, I made sure our propane tank on the grill is full since we have an electric stove 
Outside, I put all the kids toys away and put the umbrella in the down positions on the table. Our patio set is teak and really heavy, so that's not going anywhere!
