Actually in my house it is.
He always says he wants NOTHING.
He gets annoyed if I waste money on buying things for him. He is NOT into V-day at all. Calls it a Hallmark holiday, a waste etc.
However, he knows I get a kick out of it, so he will get my flowers, chocolate, etc.
No big gift- just something fun and romantic.
It works for us and yes, it's fair.

No real gifts. We're staying home and making a nice dinner and then over the weekend he is accompanying me on a work trip to Paris  so I'm sure we'll do something romantic / valentines-y there! Can't wait!

I usually don't get him anything for v-day. Our dating anniversary is the day after V-day. So it's a running joke that we both buy each other 50% off chocolates the day after V-day.

The man bouquet looks awesome.
DH and I are going on a trip net week, so we'll be at Disneyland on Valentine's Day and then we have a "romance package"   at a swank hotel on the beach. He'll probably get me something anyway because he's like that, but we're not planning to do gifts. We don't usually do more than card/flowers anyway. If I see something on vaca that he wants I miht buy it for him and treat him to a spa treatmeant

i always make him a book of reasons why i love him every year. for years i always just bought a really nice journal and would write the reasons by hand, but this year i used Love Book Online and it worked out super cute.
DH forgets I make him one every year so its neat to see the look of surprise on his face when he gets a new one.

I usually get him new pj pants. I need to go out and do that. I get him a card. I give cards, stickers and a small toy for our kids. And when I saw small - less than $5 - usually something from the Target clearance. I will make fillet minone and some heart shaped raviolis for valentines dinner.

LOL!
That was my Christmas gift to him!
He normally gets me a nice gift and dinner. He has no expecation of getting anything - just want to do something nice - since he's been really supportive after having the baby.
Our anniversary is in June and he's been eying a watch. I just am watching $$ since I'm on maternity leave.

His birthday was yesterday, and we went away overnight, so for V-day he'll get a card and a night with me and a bottle of wine by the fireplace

I hate Valentines day for the most part. They jack up the prices of everything and make you feel crappy if you don't have a significant other. I do enjoy making Valentines for DS class though.
