What are your thoughts on stress causing miscarriage
I know I shouldnt think about the "what ifs" but its just got me thinking. The day I got my BFP I found out DH had lost his job (he is still unemployed). This has stressed me out majorly. About a week after that I had a major argument with a client (I work at a veterinary hospital). It was really intense and got my heart racing. Now, I know some Drs will say yes stress can cause miscarriage and others will say no but just wondering your thoughts (and what your Drs think) about this topic.

Re: What are your thoughts on stress causing miscarriage
When I had my miscarriage, I kept thinking what did i do that caused it. Stress is most likely not a factor for your miscarriage. I had genetic testing done on mine and it had double the amount of chromosomes it should have. There is nothing I could have done to prevent that from happening. In the same respects, you being stressed probably was not the cause of yours. I am so sorry for what you are going through.

Re: What are your thoughts on stress causing miscarriage
My drs said most miscarriages are chromosonal. They said there is nothing I did, ate or drank that would have caused it. When I was of pg with ds I asked how stress would effect the baby. The dr said it doesn't. Hope that helps a little.

Re: What are your thoughts on stress causing miscarriage
I think trying to maintain a relatively stress-free environment while you're pregnant is a good idea. Is it practical? ... Probably not. We are all people who go about our daily lives and are guaranteed to encounter stress. I think it's good to focus on better ways to handle it. Ask yourself if whatever is stressing you out at the time is really worth it. Most of the time, I bet your answer will be no.
To answer your question though, I don't think stress can cause a miscarriage. Maybe a VERY EXTREME situation ... like think the season finale of Greys Anatomy last year .. Who knows............... but normal stress that you have to expect to encounter in the 9 months of pregnancy.. I doubt it. Besides, think of all the cave ladies who stressed about what animal they would slaughter to get their next meal ... and they still managed to carry a pregnancy!

Re: What are your thoughts on stress causing miscarriage
I think about this a lot. The weekend before I went to the ER was VERY stressful for me. I can't really go into it on a public site, but it had to do with a really bad fight with a drunken, pill popping member of my family who tried to punch me in the stomach. Even with that said, I don't think it contributed much to my mc, just a coincidence. Trying to convince my DH that it had nothing to do with it, is another story.
