What are your top family favorite meals?
Looking for some new ideas for family-friendly meals :)
The babies eat ANYTHING, but Logan's a bit more picky. The babies gobbled up grilled stuffed peppers while Logan would barely eat the filling! I'm looking for easy regulars! main dishes & sides too!
Right now my kids love -
oven-fried chicken thighs & homemade buttermilk biscuits spaghetti & meatballs homemade shake n' bake chicken drumsticks with rice (or homemade rice-a-roni) baked mac & cheese homemade pizza pinterest man pleasin' chicken meatloaf (beef or turkey - especially when made in muffin tins!) any variation on pasta with sausage
I feel like every week I'm roasting chicken pieces twice/week with some kind of starch & veggie, pizza one night, appetizers one night, meat one night (need more ground beef recipes!), pasta ... I'm getting bored
Would especially love more ground beef ideas, pasta ideas & meatless ideas!

Same! We make it in big batches and freeze. Great meal that you can add lots of veggies. I just make some brown rice on the side and we are good to go.

What are your top family favorite meals?
Stir fries with chicken and lots of veggies, chicken chili, bruschetta chicken
For ground beef, how about swedish meatballs, homemade hamburger helper (cheeseburger or taco style), ground beef enchiladas, tacos or taco casseroles, shepherd's pie
You can do stuffed shells all kinds of ways like taco filling or sausage/cheese/spinach
How about pork chops with your shake and bake mix. serve with applesauce
Baked ham. The leftovers freeze well and make for easy meals. One of our faves is a casserole with pasta, ham, alfredo sauce, and veggies topped with a little cheese.

Re: What are your top family favorite meals?
My 3 and 1 year old love crockpot ribs. I try to make that often.
How about AppleGate hot dogs, baked beans and corn?
Chicken Parmesan?
Cod fish oreganta? It is the only fish my 3 year old will eat.
I also feel like I make the same meals all the time too!

How about...
fish with stewed tomatos (tilapia is cheapest and the lowest in mercury) with butter, garlic, onion, bread crumbs, parmesan cheese.
For ground beef how about sloppy joe. I love using campbells tomato bisque for the sauce. Brown 1 pound-ish of 93% lean or ground turkey to 1 can of tomato bisque soup straight out of the can and add in a big handful of mixed peppers (defrosted) or 1 chopped up fresh pepper. Heat until bubbling. Serve over toast, rice, pasta, orzo, cous cous or with crackers for lunch.

What are your top family favorite meals?
good Sunday meal: Giada's turkey and artichoke stuffed shells- this is delicious! i usually make it with regular marinara or left over sauce. i am sure you can use ground beef instead of ground turkey.
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/turkey-and-artichoke-stuffed-shells-with-arrabbiata-sauce-recipe/index.html
Arroz con picadillo- this is a ground beef dish with pimento olives over rice. pretty tasty . i think skinny taste might have a recipe
spaghetti al olio- soo soo easy. the grated parm cheese and fresh parsely really make this simple dish shine. i just saute up minced garlic ( like 5 cloves) till fragrant, add a pinch of red pepper flakes and then add the cooked pasta to the pan and toss. plate it and sprinkle fresh parsely and generous handful of parm cheese. oh and a sprinkle of fresh cracked pepper!
pasta with lentils- i use elbow pasta. saute garlic ( about 3 cloves chopped) till fragrant over 4 tablespoons of olive oil. do not brown. throw in about 3 or 4 sliced carrots ( i use mini carrots), one slice of celery sliced. give a toss, let it soften in the pot. for about 10 min add about 3 tablespoons of diced tomato and add most of the liquid from the can. add the lentils ( give lentils a rinse first) fill with water, enough water to cover lentils - maybe go over by an inch b.c it might reduce, let boil, cover and simmer till thickened and lentils break apart. add the lentils to the cooked pasta, mix well. plate it up and serve with fresh parm cheese and fresh cracked pepper.
i did a veggie stir fry this week with udon noodles. that was fun and different. didnt miss the meat.
i'll tyr to think of some other things!!

my son ( 22 months) eats mostly everything. about 6 months ago he went through a little rejection phase but i chalked it up to his molars that came in. softer textures were easier for him so i kept that in mind when making the family meal.
now he is back to eating mostly everything except dry white meat and steak.
i always try to make sure to give him a variety of stuff on his plate, and he can eat as he pleases. if he just picks the rice and a few veggies, well, that is what is for dinner. i don't substitute.
i think you just have to keep sticking to your guns and don't offer a substitute. i feel that is how the picky eater is formed. they know that they can reject a food, and mom will replace with the old standby.
i believe kids are allowed to have preferences so just try to be mindful but at the sametime you have to give them limits. keep cooking the family meal and he will learn not to go to bed with an empty belly.
good luck!
