I registered for both. I do NOT recommend the peg perego infant car seat. It is horrifically heavy and my DD who was not a huge baby at all outgrew it by 5 months. It was really uncomfy for her. Stay away!
I just got this one, and wonder what model you are talking about, because it doesn't seem any heavier to me than the graco and its rated to 30 lbs.
The one I got is the Ppeg perego viaggio
Peg Perego Viaggio SIP 30/30. It is really heavy and because of the insert around the head area it gets really uncomfortable for the baby really fast. There were a bunch of threads on parenting back in late '08 early '09 about it because most of us had to take our kids out of it by 4-5 months.

registered for the graco snugride 32. it never even occurred to me to register for the convertible. 
it's expensive so if you can get it as a gift....GO FOR IT! Just need to find a place to store it!

For the infant car seat we registered for the Graco Snugride.
We haven't decided on a convertible one yet but we will be registering for it. Even if I don't receive it I would like to have it on there for the completion discount.
