What cell phone plan do you have that is NOT a monthly plan?
Long story short.
We got my grandfather tracphone. It's great for him but in all honestly, it's ridiculous in a way. His phone will stop working in 10 days if he doesn't add minutes to his phone. He still has like 200 minutes so he really doesn't NEED more minutes but he has to BUY more. So looking into it, he can spend 20$ but then he will have to buy MORE minutes in 3 months.
What are the alternatives?

that's rediculous! that sounds like a scam why make ppl add minutes if they don't need them? isn't the whole point "pay as you go"?

I think VZW has a plan where you only pay $X/day for any day you use the phone plus minutes used.

We just switched from a post-paid t-mobile account to a pre-paid account. They have a pay by the day option, but we opted to just buy minutes. We are saving tons of $ because we really were not using our phones that much.

My mom does tracfone, but does it adding minutes by the year. I think she just added 400 mins or so (i think they threw in 200 free, so 600) for $99 for a year. She never uses them all, but $99 in case of emergency isn't bad.

Re: What cell phone plan do you have that is NOT a monthly plan?
I have t-mobile (cause I don't use my cell phone that much) and have a pay as you go plan. I just add minutes as I need them. You do have to keep track and not run out, or you risk losing the number, but you do get a warning when your minutes are really low.
My only complaint, but I'm not sure if it's the service or the crappy phone I have, I get lots of dropped calls. But for someone who uses the phone rarely, it's okay.
