 I am obviously terrible with makeup. My eyes are blue.

I also have blue eyes and I usually wear brown/ earth tone or pinks for eye shadow. Those colors make blue eyes stand out instead of making your make up the focus.

for casual i would do the browns that the OP said, but blue eyes you can do a smoke look also, that i think is more dressy than casual.

wear what looks good on your skin, regardless of your outfit.
something neutral like a taupy shade with some slight shimmer in it seems to look good on everyone

i personally hate browns, they look terrible on me (green eyes) i love the way purple looks with blue eyes. mac traxx is a great color.

Yeah, I also think it depends on your skin tone. I have super pale skin, and you can see all the veins under my eyes, so purple makes me look like someone gave me two black eyes.
My sister has blue eyes, but has a little darker complexion and purples look good on her.

You should look at a nice light frosty blue - very subtle blue, almost white.... I love that frosty look for summer....
