What dinners do you make that toddlers may also eat?
I am trying to figure out dinners that all three of us (me, DH, and 13 month old DS) can eat. DS doesn't like very spicy things, but I don't want to have to make him grilled cheese or mac and cheese every night while making something separate for us.
Any suggestions for meals that the whole family will eat (specifically young toddlers)? I did pasta w/ meat sauce last night, and we had pizza the night before, but I am running out of ideas.

she has eaten hot dogs, last night she had some chicken cutlets and noodles....
she's not a huge fan of meats, but we have had minimal success with burgers and as long as i mixed the meatball with some spaghetti...she ate it...

DS eats whatever we eat. For example, I made chicken, potatoes and veggies last night and he had that. Tonight he will be having lasagna. The only things he doesn't really like for hamburgers/hot dogs

They'll eat whatever we eat. They are big fans of fajita night - DS loves refried beans!

I hate refried beans but now that a couple of you said your DC loved them, maybe I'll give them a try.

All of the above including lots of grilled stuff now....DS is loving plain old chicken breasts with BBQ sauce on the grill. I make a HUGE batch of chicken cutlets and freeze them so if DS is being picky I can quickly give him one, or even for lunch.

When I DO cook, he eats whatever we eat. Chicken, Pasta, sausage, burgers/hotdogs eggplant parm........he is pretty good about eating anything -
If we order in or are havinga really lazy PB/J night, I'll make him something separate.

whatever we eat.
However, I do not give her hotdogs (I don't eat them anyway). And she is not a big fan of red meat.
We do alot of poultry (chicken/turkey). Unless we are in a huge dinner rush, or I'm feeling particulary lazy, I always make sure she gets a protein for dinner. I notice she doesn't wake up as hungry in the morning.

Re: What dinners do you make that toddlers may also eat?
It's hard for us because DS doesn't eat with us. But:
I've fried chicken strips for him and he likes that. Leftover ravioli in cream sauce. Burgers are usually fine. Bits of chicken (I've given him some breast meat in little pieces on his tray). Leftover fresh ham (in a sandwich). Veggies in cheese sauce. French fries

Re: What dinners do you make that toddlers may also eat?
I made DS "tacos" last night for dinner.
I had some tiny pieces of cooked chicken, yellow rice and shredded mixed/cheddar cheese.
I put the rice and chicken in a little bowl w/ some shredded cheese to make a "paste". The put it on 1/2 of a soft taco and cut into 3 pieces.
DS thought they were good.
------------------------------------------------------ DS doesn't like chop meat so when I make meat sauce I leave some bigger pieces and tell him they are meat balls.

Same here, but I use the chicken tenderloins.

Not a big fan of refried beans myself, so I take a can of black beans, some chicken stock and add some garlic & cumin - then warm and smush... low salt/low fat!!!

I hate refried beans as well - but my DD LOVES burritos. I have a recipe for an enchilada pie that I will dig out for you. You can tame down the spice very easily. It's made with refried beans and is YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: What dinners do you make that toddlers may also eat?
I do not eat meat so I make a lot of vegetarian dinners. Here are some things we eat:
-Pasta fagioli - Macaroni and peas Sometimes I make it with red sauce and sometimes I make with olive oil and onions - ravioli with maranara sauce -ravioli with Penne al la vodka sauce - macaroni with escarole and white beans - macaroni and broccoli - pierogies and I usually make corn on the cob on the side - minestrone soup- (I make it homemade) - veggie burgers, mashed potatoes, and a vegetable - Tilapia, with potaoes and veggies - Sometimes we have breakfast for dinner and I make scrambled eggs, homefries and toast -Chines fried rice ( I make it in a wok with brown rice, egg, onions, and garlic) It is pretty filling, sometimes we eat veggie burgers with it. -Vegetable soup with carrots, potatoes, onions, celery, garlic, and acini de pepe or ditalini pasta- sometimes I add canellini beans to it. -

Re: What dinners do you make that toddlers may also eat?
AJ eats what we do, but the easy standbys at that age were
Brocolli Refried Beans (I hate beans but she likes it) Green Beans (I hate green beans too but she likes them a LOT) Easily grab type pasta (elbows, mac or rigatoni) Meatloaf Salmon Ravioli Peas (i hate these too - ick)
Also Gerber Pick ups were and still are a serious life saver when dinners not totally ready and she needs to eat RIGHT NOW!

Re: What dinners do you make that toddlers may also eat?
He eats what we eat including 'spicy' things like chili (not spicy but has a lot of flavor)
He loves Sausage (pork or chicken) Meatloaf (beef, chicken, or turkey) Chicken or Pork any which way (fried cutlets, baked, sauteed, stir fried, BBQ'd, ribs) Beef any which way - steak, kabobs, etc.
Macaroni w/ meat sauce Macaroni w/ Alfredo sauce Macaroni & Cheese
Brown Rice w/ peas Rainbow (vegetable) fried rice
Any kind of potato, made any way (mashed, fried, boiled, baked - sweet, idaho, babyreds, yukon golds)
Beans - black bean burgers, cannelini beans sauteed w/ garlic and diced tomatoes, pork & beans
When DS was younger (12-18 months) - I made a lot of 'bowls' ... mixed macaroni or rice, vegetable & meat in a bowl and served it that way. Sometimes added cheese if it called for it. Once the spoon was in his mouth, he didn't mind what was in it. He ate A LOT of veggies/meat that way.
Chili Bowls Pasta Bowls Rice Bowls
