Re: what do you consider to be the major differences between living in the city and living in the 'burbs?
I LOVE being able to walk everywhere in the city... or better yet- have it delivered When I visit my parents, I'm like "What do you mean you need to go out to get bagels? Bagels come to me!"
Seriously, the major difference for me is that in the city I feel like I can explore something new everyday day... new exhibits, galleries, restaurants, bars, shops, neighborhoods, etc., and in the suburbs I feel like I always go to the same places. I like to be out and about, so I get a little antsy in the burbs.

In the suburbs you don't walk out your front door and get hit with the stench of all the garbage bags on the sidewalk on a steamy August morning I don't miss the panhandlers or roaches either (though we do have our share of other lovely bugs)

I live in the city and my mom lives in the suburbs. I find that grocery stores in the suburbs have better selections of items and better prices. I also find that you have more accesibility to larger discount stores like Walmart, Costco, BJ's etc. Movies are also cheaper in the suburbs than in the city. Here in the city all the shopping is overpriced and frequently the produce is not as fresh. However, living in the city is easier because of the transportation and walkability to many stores and restaurants. I think we also have a bigger and better selection of restaurants than the burbs. ETA: Parking is a major difference....my parents come home and park in their driveway and DH & I sometimes spend over an hour looking for parking Just to give you an idea how bad parking is by me there is an 18 year waiting list for a parking spot

Re: what do you consider to be the major differences between living in the city and living in the 'burbs?
The biggest lifestyle difference for me in when I lived in the city was the amount of walking I would do. I gained 35 lbs in a short time after moving back here. The only difference was the amount of walking I did. I really miss lunchtime in the city, too. My friends worked near me, so I could meet them. Or, if I walked around alone, it was fun. Now I don't think it is interesting to aimlessly walk around the area where my office is, even though it's a nice area.
