what do you do for a cold for a 17 month old?
my son was coughing all night and today he was starting to cough again. my MIL gave him a few sips of a milkshake and 20 min. later he was goughing and gagged and spit up. What can i give him? Aren't you not supposed to give a baby a cough suppressant until they are at least 2? Should i get a humidifier for his room?
i am sorry if this has already been posted - i couldn't find it when i looked

I agree with my ped on this one, we don't give cold/cough meds until they are over 6 years old.
I use benadryl for congestion/post nasal drip, cool mist humidifier, baby vicks rub and J&J vapor bath.
Hope feels better soon
MIlk is the worst for mucous my mother always told me, it causes more coughing

I agree with my ped on this one, we don't give cold/cough meds until they are over 6 years old.

Maybe try to water the milk down? My ped always tells me to give her anything she'll drink.
My daughter whose 18 months won't drink anything but milk and water, so i know how hard it can be to get liquids in em when they are sick. But i've had some success when I've watered it down. She sees the color white in her bottle and thinks it's milk and she'll drink it..god forbid something else or another color drink is in there that isn't clear or white...she'll give a the look of disgust. LIke mommy uh,,no i don't think soo.
I water it 50/50 or sometimes less when she's sick. The worst puke is milk puke when they are sick.
I hope he feels better soon Maybe the milk shake was just too thick for him
