What do you do for dinner when you dont feel like cooking?
We dont really have money to go out or order in, I'm just wondering if theres anything you just have in the house for the times you dont feel like cooking.

Re: What do you do for dinner when you dont feel like cooking?
bowl of cereal?
We used to keep 10min pasta and stouffers pizza in our freezer for days we didnt or couldnt cook dinner (like when something comes up and we're home late)
Lately tho, in effort to save money, I have THREE boxes of cereal. Kashi's Strawberry Fields, Raisin Bran, Frosted Flakes.
We also have AJ's bag of Mickey Mouse shaped Chicken nuggets if we got desperate. Left overs are always in our fridge too.
Eggs and toast
Oatmeal
That's for us..
AJ has chicken cubes, chicken nuggets, cheese cubes and usually a graduate meal or two we keep on hand for emergencies. haha

Go to my Mom's lol.
Actually sometimes I get from BJ's those whole cooked chicken's they are not expensive there only iexpensive in the supermarket. Anyway I will just heat that up with a salad or side dish.
Chinese and pizza are always cheap takeout.

Re: What do you do for dinner when you dont feel like cooking?
Easiest dinner ever- I make it for my DD and myself when DH is out of town.
Take about 12 frozen shrimp( I buy the big bag at Costco so I always have them on hand) and throw in some water to defrost.
Bowl some rice in a bag or Rice a roni. I like the Mahatma Saffron rice for this dinner. Get that started.
Once Shrimp thaw out( a few minutes) I cut them in small pieces.
Take either 6 or 7 asparagus stalks or small handful of green beens and cut into small pieces too.
Saute the veggies in some butter and diced garlic/shallots until crisp and then add in the shrimp. Saute until they are pink.
Around 5 minutes left to the rice cooking- add in the veggies and shrimp.
Let sit for a few minutes to cool and you are done!
It is super easy.

Re: What do you do for dinner when you dont feel like cooking?
I usually have leftovers or cans of soup around. If I don't have either I'll whip up a few PBJ's with bananas or tuna sandwiches and some veggie sticks as a side dish.

Re: What do you do for dinner when you dont feel like cooking?
either frozen pizza or ravioli. We have the spinach mozzarella ravioli from Costco that I just boil & add olive oil & the parm cheese topping that comes with it. I guess it's technically cooking, but it's just boiling water. Or we have the Bertolli one dish skillet dinners.

First of all, the not cooking dinner sounds so yummy and I WISH Lily would eat something like that. Secondly, do share this paprika chicken recipe... (please.) (although I imagine it is very complicated since it's "real cooking." lol.)

Re: What do you do for dinner when you dont feel like cooking?
I typically make a big meal once a month and freeze some of it for those days. I also always have frozen Ravioli and pasta with jar sauce on hand. Grilled cheese or PBJ/PBF are good quick choices.

Re: What do you do for dinner when you dont feel like cooking?
Bell & Evans chicken breasts...throw them in the oven for 25 mins and they're so tasty & healthy! I usually make a 5 min box of cous cous or rice to go with it. Also I try to add something green either froz peas or steam some spinach with this as well.

Re: What do you do for dinner when you dont feel like cooking?
We have a couple of standbys
Pasta and sauce and meatballs (I usually have meatballs in the freezer)
grilled cheese and tomato soup
stir fry - I always have the stir fry veggies from BJs on hand and I'll toss in whatever left over meat we have from the week - DH likes it best when there are a few types of meat
pancakes (who says you can't have breakfast for dinner!)
Salad with chicken ( I keep a bag of frozen precooked chicken breast on hand also)
Tacos

Re: What do you do for dinner when you dont feel like cooking?
breakfast for dinner- omelets, turkey bacon, and home fries (the pre packaged ones you just heat in the oven or skillet)
frozen pizza & salad (if we lived in NY I would just order a pizza)
i would have cereal but DH thinks this is so I do this when he works OT
i also buy the cooked whole chicken, and make one of those veggies sides in the steam bag you just put in the microwave or a salad, they have brown rice you can steam in the microwave in those bags too
sandwiches with the cooked chicken or coldcuts, and we make them all warm & gooey on the foreman grill or griddle.

Re: What do you do for dinner when you dont feel like cooking?
Chili cheese dip and tostitos. Spread cream cheese on the bottom of a pyrex bowl, pour in some hormel chili (no beans) and then pour in a jar of salsa. Bake in the over for 45 minutes at 350 and scoop away with the tostitos. Yummy!!
