what do you do when your dc climbs out of his crib and is NOT ready for a toddler bed?
yup found him and sitting on the floor on top of all of his stuff this morning. he is not a good sleeper as is and having the ability to get out of his crib or bed will make it SO much worse.
his crib is a convertable with thick rails and the headboard is higher than the rest of the sides so the standard crib tent won't fit.
is there another product on the market for a crib like his?
should i get the tent anyway and try to get it to fit the best i can?
what can i do???

Re: what do you do when your dc climbs out of his crib and is NOT ready for a toddler bed?
DD started to climb out of her crib and she was definitely not ready for a toddler bed. She's an amazing sleeper so I didn't want to mess with that.
We got a crib tent and it's worked perfectly. We had no problems with her getting used to it, etc.

We got a crib tent.
If you can't fit one on the crib you need to switch in to toddler bed or bed with rails.

We got crib tents. We have the same kind of crib as you - the high back w/ no rails but DH was able to rig it with some rope and its been fine for about a year now.

Re: what do you do when your dc climbs out of his crib and is NOT ready for a toddler bed?
Why would he not be ready?
I didnt think Noah was either though, but He has a convertible bed like you mentioned.
We converted it to a daybed and we bought a LARGE Bed rail, that is very high ( only 2 and 1/2 inches lower then the actually crib rail was!) and theres only about 4 inches at the end of it for him to get out and he cant.
Yes he can climb over it, but he actually doesnt...Which is weird considering he climbed out of the crib
If you want a picture of how ours looks let me know, will take one.

josh isn't the best sleeper and i think this would give him more inncentive to get out of bed instead or rest and maybe fall back to sleep. he's also all over the crib still and usually likes his head touching the rail.
i ended up getting the crib tent 2. i'm hoping we can rig it to stay on otherwise it's bed here we come.

This is the one we have, since our crib rails are different heights and sizes....it won't fit perfectly...but if you tighten the velcro straps tight enough you will have no issues with it.
He will not be getting out of the crib

Re: what do you do when your dc climbs out of his crib and is NOT ready for a toddler bed?
I thought crib tents were to keep animals out, not keep kids in?
I'd be worried my DC would get caught up in the netting while i was asleep....
I didn't think my DD was ready for a bed either, but safety comes first..she climbed out of hers too a little after age 2..sooner or later they have to go into a bed anyways.

It's the same kind of netting, if not smaller, than the breathable bumpers...so there is no possible way they could ever get caught in it.

Try not to worry yet, see what happens. Noahs still all over the bed now too...
If it doesnt work, FM me for the bed rail name. It really is so large it makes them feel secure like teh crib.
Lots of luck with the tent/ Let us know how it goes.

I wasn't ready for the toddler bed at just about 2 years old but he started trying to climb out so I figured he must be ready. We had no issues with the transition....good luck whatever you decide!

mine jumped at 12 mos.
and broke the crib.
we did not trust him in the tent, DH thought he would strangle himself or something.
put him in a bed, cleared out his room, gate at door...then 2 gates at door.

You know if/when your kid is ready to move into a toddler bed, and I don't think climbing out necessarily means he is ready for one.
Rig up the crib tent like Pinky did!

Same with DS, except I skipped the toddler bed and put him in a twin size bed with guards. It worked great for him
