what do you do with your old throw pillows?

i buy new pillows for my couch twice a year - fall/winter and spring/summer. by the time im ready to change them, i feel like they're flat and ugly but i also feel bad just throwing them in the garbage. so what do you do with your throw pillows when you dont want them anymore?

I change the throw pillows on the couch in our den pretty much seasonally, too. If they are in decent shape (rare), I will save them to be used again in the future, when the right season rolls arond again.

But most of the time, I either move them down to the basement couch (the basement is basically my son's playroom) where they pile up and my son can use them to build forts and ramps. Or I toss them. I usually buy relatively inexpensive pillows from Home Goods or Bed Bath & Beyond, so I don't feel bad just throwing them out when they get shabby.

But if someone has a crafty idea for repurposing them, I'd be interested to hear it!

I get new covers but keep the inserts. Once the inserts go, then I will replace everything. I get new covers once a year or two and rotate every 6 months but sometimes my kids destroy them before and then I don't rotate them back into the collection. At this point I am down to one set.

I keep them. I have a huge pile in my office closet.

I don't want to get rid of them but I don't want to become a hoarder.
