What do you make of these frozen embryo gradings?-updated with a question..
I never asked the RE what the grades were of my 3 frozen embryos...I put a call in to the embryologist and this is the message she left me:
2 frozen on day 5 1 frozen on day 6
All expanded blastocysts...
BB AA AC
She said the first letter represented the inner cells ( baby) and the second was the outer cells (placenta)..
Anybody familiar with the grading?
ETA- I called the embryologist back to ask what grade my DD was ( all I knew was 5 day hatching blast)
She was an AA hatching blastocyst...
Are the ones I have stored a lot less quality because they aren't "hatching" ?
Thanks !!!!

Those are great!
If I remember correctly...
At my clinic, an expanded blast is given the number 5 which is the highest number.
Then the letter grades are just like you'd think - with A being the best.
So your AA is the best one... then I'm not sure if BB or AC is the next best one.
I'll tell you though that we transferred 3 blasts (not expanding) and some were lower than yours and we did get pregnant

Re: What do you make of these frozen embryo gradings?-updated with a question..
Oh you know what, you're right. At my clinic #5 is hatching blast... #4 is expanding blast. We only had one that was graded a #5 and we used it on our first FET and didn't get PG. In our second FET (the successful one) ours were all less than 5. I can't remember the exact grades though, but it sounds like you have great embryos!

I know many ladies who have had success without a "hatching blast." Wishing you a successful FET
