What do you say when you answer the phone at work?

I say "company name Kimberly speaking"

What is your standard greeting when you know it is not friends/family, etc?

If we anwer a ringing phone we say, thank you for calling COMPANY, this is NAME, how may I help you.

If someone tells me its for me, I just say, Hello, this is NAME.
Just in case I pick up the wrong line.

My co-worker in another location has a direct line and she answers, Accounting, this is Name.

Anyone watch Flipping Out on Bravo? He makes his employees say "It's a great day at Jeff Lewis' office" and then I think how may I help you after that. Jeez!

I want to shorten to Kimberly speaking but I do like the good morning/afternoon thrown in.

(I usually end up saying this in the afternoon too)

But the name of my client pops up on our phone display if I have to answer differently.

ETA: i never answer with my name. i have a direct line to my office, which is not the main agency #. if they are calling me, it's to speak specifically to me, or else its a wrong number

Not everyone at work has Caller ID, so if it's someone in-house, I'll answer with "Hi, <name>". It totally throws off a lot of people, since they aren't expecting that....

I'll say "Hi John", and they'll immediately say "Hi, it's John..."

how about keeping it simple...

If it's a coworker "Hey so & so"

If it's my line, I say my first and last name; if it's my boss's line, I say Good Morning/Afternoon Mr. So and So's office...

I have an assistant who screens my calls so I generally know who I'm about to spake with.

So I'll say, Hello, this is XX XX

If I take the call directly I generally say hello, this is XX XX how may I help you

If the called ID shows it is a friend I just say What - throws them off all the time
