What do you think of gel nail polish?
I keep going back and forth. I just started getting my nails done after about four years. Now I hate that the polish chips after a day! But how good or bad is the gel nail polish?

I love gel. I love that when the manicurist is done, you can walk right out the door with no drying time. I've never had it chip and can get a good 3 weeks out of it. Not a fan of having it removed and I try to take a break form it every once in a while to give my nails a chance to recover.

Re: What do you think of gel nail polish?
I have gotten it done 3 times, the first two chipped after a couple of days. This last time I went to a nice spa and got it done, and it actually lasted. That being said, I like to change up my colors once a week, so I think I'm going to try the new Vinylux by CND. It requires no base coat and is supposed to last a week. You can also just remove it with regular nail polish remover

For me, I have no idea how anyone blows money on run of the mill manicures - literally money in the garbage. Chips that afternoon! I just do it at home and touch up during the week.
I can't afford to do gel/shellac consistently, but when I have, I never once had a chip or anything. There's no drying time which I love.
Hasn't damaged my nails but I don't do it that often

Re: What do you think of gel nail polish?
I won't do gel because I don't want it to damage my nails. I used to go for weekly manis and my polish never lasted very long. Now I do my nails at home, bought tons of Essie colors, and it lasts longer than the salon, even though it's the same brand polish. I dunno if nail salons thin their polish to make the bottle last longer or what. I've gotten pretty good at it, people ask if it's gel all the time lol. Also, I apply Essie Super Duper top coat every other day...my polish will easily last a week, which is good for me because I like to change it up.

I never heard of this before but i just googled it and now i'm intrigued! I've never seen it at a salon. Do you know if it's more expensive than a regular mani?

I went to the spa at east wind and they were charging $5 extra for it....I googled it and actually purchased 2 different colors and the top coat for it and I was charged $20! So I'm excited for it to come in the mail and try it myself :)

I get gel manicures, I have always had weak nails and I personally feel my nails are stronger with the gel.

Re: What do you think of gel nail polish?
I am not a manicure person but had a gift card and decided to get a gel manicure done. I had a 2 week vacation coming up. One chipped by a week but barely noticeable. The rest stayed nice and perfect. By the end of two weeks I could notice the bottom growth which was annoying me. I took it off at 2.5-3 weeks and my nails underneath were ruined. The woman who did it promised me it would come off with just nail polish but they couldn't get them off after soaking and such and had to use the file thing to get them off. Took them 3 months to grow back and not peel. I do have weak nails to begin with but it was horrible. It is great if you keep it up but not worth it for short term....
