What do you think of these 2 Holbrook houses?

http://www.mlsli.com/uniDetails.CFM?MLNum=2026492&typeprop=1&start=41&rpp=20
I saw the first one at an open house and loved it...the basement isn't finished though. Anyone know around how much a basement costs to finish?
Thanks for your help.

Re: What do you think of these 2 Holbrook houses?
The 2nd one looks like someone may have bought it and fixed it up themselves now they want to sell it. Nice house.
The 1st one is nice too... looks huge!! Just have to rip down some wallpaper here and there.

Re: What do you think of these 2 Holbrook houses?
They're both very nice.
My personal taste would lead me to the 2nd one, because I love the kitchen and the fact that there is CAC....
As for the basement, my parents just finished theirs. I don't know exactly what they spent, but I think it depends on what you can do yourself and what materials you use...for my parents I think it only cost a few thousand...under $4k, but my Dad did most of it himself.

Re: What do you think of these 2 Holbrook houses?
both are nice- I like the second one better
I am not in love with the outside of the first one- and that cost $$$ to fix
I like the lay out and outside of the second one alot more

Re: What do you think of these 2 Holbrook houses?
they are both nice, but I prefer #2. A lot newer and updated. Looks move in ready, just some backyard work and of course the unfinished basement. Good prices and the second one has lower taxes.

Re: What do you think of these 2 Holbrook houses?
both are very nice! #2 needs a lot less work than #1, so i guess it depends on if you are looking to do work on your own or move right in!
best of luck!

Re: What do you think of these 2 Holbrook houses?
I saw number 2 more than a year ago when we were looking and although the house is brand new, what they don't tell you is the back yard faces the powerlines with a huge power circuit about 10 feet from the back door. I mean a huge central circuit breaker from the LIPA plant. The realtor tried to give me some paper work on how there are no increased cancer rates in the area because of this...yada...yada...yada...I am not surprised that its so cheap and they are still having a hard time selling it. It will never sell because of this!!

I don't know about "piss off", but they would probably counter offer.
Maybe this thread will help out. It was just talked about recently.

wow.. I was going to say I love #2, but reading through the posts, I'm a little scared of the powerline issue too.. House 1 has soooo much potential.. Unless you like the wallpaper and froofroo curtains Sandy

Re: What do you think of these 2 Holbrook houses?
housees that list a price "range" and not an exact price are a bit different. They are usually asking for the higher number and have that listed with the agent. We saw a ton of houses with ranges on MLS and then when we went to the open houses the handouts had the higher number

This has been on the market a long time...they can't get rid of it. It is on a corner of Clarice and Grundy Ave.
